Roblox plans browser play and standalone apps for creator games
Roblox plans to let people join games in Chrome without installing its app by the end of 2026. At its September 11 developer conference, the company also announced standalone creator apps for mobile, PC, and consoles. Roblox would continue providing the underlying technology and services. Roblox's RDC announcement presents both as upcoming capabilities.

A shorter trip from a link to a game
The proposed web player starts from a game's Experience Details Page. Chrome comes first, with other browsers to follow. Roblox hasn't provided a specific launch date beyond the end-of-year window. Its standalone-app announcement uses the less specific timing of “soon.” Source: Roblox.
For a developer sharing a playable demo, the practical question is how much happens between a person clicking the link and controlling the character. An installation step asks that person to commit before they've tried the game. Browser play can let the game make its case earlier. Whether this rollout delivers that experience will depend on loading times, sign-in requirements, and supported devices.
Wider distribution still uses Roblox
The company has used the Roblox Everywhere name before. Its October 2025 announcement brought Roblox to the Samsung Galaxy Store and Xbox Ally handhelds. This year's proposal extends that distribution idea to individual games with their own apps.
The continued reliance on Roblox's services matters when interpreting “standalone.” Creators shouldn't read it as a promise that they can export a game and operate the entire system themselves.
