Make your own game

Icebound Manager was built by Christoffer Nilsson Lundberg with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Icebound Manager opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Icebound Manager

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a responsive browser game titled "Icebound Manager", an 8-bit hockey front-office simulator with a dark navy pixel-art presentation. The player is the coach of a scrappy hockey club and manages a five-game season by choosing a tactic each shift while watching a simple animated rink.

Layout and style: Center a single-column app, max width about 900px, with a black/navy background and compact monospace UI. At the top show the gold, shadowed title "ICEBOUND MANAGER" and a small light-blue two-line tag reading "8-BIT HOCKEY / FRONT OFFICE". Use a pixelated, low-resolution visual language: thick dark borders, block shadows, bright gold, cyan ice, royal blue, coral red, and navy panels. The app should fit the viewport and remain usable on mobile; on narrow screens use a two-column action-button grid.

Main rink: Show a large responsive canvas beneath the header, with a pale cyan ice surface, repeated horizontal light-blue skate/ice lines, a thick white rectangular border, a white center line, and a red center faceoff circle. Put red goal structures at the left and right edges: coral vertical end pieces with a larger muted-blue rectangular goal area inset beside each one. Label the ends HOME in coral at upper left and AWAY in blue at upper right. Draw ten square pixel players in fixed formations: five home players in coral/red on the left half (LW, C, RW, and two D), and five away players in blue on the right half (G, two D, and two F). Each player is a dark 18px square outline containing a smaller colored square and a tiny white monospace position label. Draw a small dark puck with a white center near midfield. Animate the puck continuously during play, moving and bouncing within the rink boundaries; tactic choices can alter its horizontal velocity. Do not add skating animations or extra gameplay objects.

Start state and modal: On initial load, display a dark translucent full-screen overlay with a bordered navy modal. Show the title ICEBOUND MANAGER, explanatory text that the player runs a scrappy pixel hockey club, calls tactics each shift, manages energy, and tries to steal the season, plus the advice that Attack creates chances, Defend protects a lead, and Motivate lifts morale but burns a timeout. Include a full-width gold DROP THE PUCK button. Starting state is season game 1 of 5, score 0–0, period 1 at 20:00, team energy 72%, morale 68%, one available timeout, 18M salary-cap space, and an initial coach log saying: "Welcome, coach. Set the tone and take your first shift."

Dashboard beneath the rink: Use a navy panel with blue border, arranged as two cards on the first row. The left card shows "SEASON GAME 1 / 5", a large gold 0 — 0 score, and "PERIOD 1 • 20:00". The right card shows TEAM ENERGY with a cyan/green horizontal meter at 72%, and MORALE with a gold meter at 68%, each with a percentage label. Under them, span a COACH'S LOG card containing up to four recent messages in reverse chronological order, with small light-blue monospace text. At the bottom show four thick, blocky buttons: gold ATTACK, light-blue DEFEND, coral MOTIVATE, and light-blue TRADES. Buttons have dark outlines, inset bottom shadows, and a small pressed translation effect.

Core interaction: Clicking DROP THE PUCK closes the overlay, starts the game clock and logs "Puck dropped! Your first line takes the ice." The clock runs in real time but should be accelerated so a 20:00 period lasts about 6.25 real minutes (decrement game seconds by approximately 3.2 per real second). While running, every tactic click counts as a shift and resolves a random outcome.

ATTACK: Reduce energy by 6, set puck horizontal movement toward the opponent, and randomly log one of exactly these styles of messages: on a low roll (under 24%), "Breakaway! Your winger buries it!" and add one home goal; on a middle roll (under 58%), "Clean zone entry. Keep the pressure on."; otherwise, "The defense shuts down the rush.". A successful breakaway also increases morale by 5. DEFEND: Reduce energy by 2, set the puck horizontal movement back toward home, and log either "Huge save! The bench loves the discipline." on a roll under 28%, or "Blue line holds. They get no clean looks." otherwise. On a low roll under 12%, award the opponent one goal. Every defend action increases morale by 2. Clamp morale between 0 and 100; meters should never display outside 0–100. MOTIVATE: If the timeout is still available, consume it, increase morale by 18 up to 100 and energy by 8 up to 100, and log "Timeout called. The room is loud, focused, alive.". If already used, do not change stats and instead log "No timeout left — make the call on the ice.". Buttons should only function during active play, so actions before DROP THE PUCK or after the game ends do nothing.

Period and game flow: Each period begins at 20:00. When the accelerated clock reaches zero, if the current period is below 3, advance to the next period, reset the clock to 20:00, reduce energy by 12 but not below 25, and log "Intermission complete. Period [number] begins.". After period 3, end the game, stop the clock, and log either "Final horn — WIN! The locker room erupts." when the home score is greater than the opponent, or "Final horn — tough loss. Reset and scout the rematch." otherwise. Show an end overlay with a large result heading: "PLAYOFF PUSH!" for a win or "BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD" for a loss, the final score, a short result message, and a NEXT GAME button.

Season progression: NEXT GAME advances the game number cyclically from 1 through 5, resets score, period, clock to 20:00, energy to 72%, shifts to zero, and restores the timeout. Carry morale forward but ensure it is at least 58%, and increase cap space by 4M up to 18M. Hide the overlay and immediately start the next game, logging "Fresh ice, fresh chance.". The season indicator always displays current game / 5.

Trades: The TRADES button opens a centered dark modal overlay titled TRADE DESK. Display current cap space in millions and roster count out of 6. Start the roster with four names: K. Frost, M. Pixel, J. North, and A. Byte. Offer exactly three signable players as cards: R. Rocket (RW), cost 6M, description "Fast winger — raises attack odds." and boost 10; T. Brick (D), cost 5M, description "Shutdown defender — steadies the blue line." and boost 8; V. Viper (G), cost 7M, description "Hot goalie — swings close games." and boost 12. Each card has a SIGN PLAYER button disabled when cap is insufficient or the roster has reached 6. Signing deducts the cost, adds the player to the roster, increases energy by half the boost (5, 4, or 6) up to 100, increases morale by 4 up to 100, and logs "Trade complete: [name] joins the club.". Include a BACK TO BENCH button to close the trade overlay. Keep the trade modal usable without stopping the active clock, matching the simple implementation.

Use only the stated mechanics and visual elements: this is a lightweight tactical manager with a decorative animated rink, random shift outcomes, meters, coach log, timeout, roster/cap trading, and a five-game progression—not a directly controlled hockey simulation.
