Make your own game

Orb Dodge was built by topdragon5330 with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Orb Dodge opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Orb Dodge

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a 2D top-down survival dodge game called "Orb Dodge" with these specifications:

**Perspective & Camera:** Fixed overhead 2D view filling the entire browser window. Dark blue gradient background (from #0b0e1a at top to #141a33 at bottom) with slow-moving white starfield particles drifting downward.

**Player Avatar:** Players control glowing circular orbs with a radius of 14 pixels, positioned near the bottom of the screen (90px from bottom edge). Each player has a distinct neon color and label:
- Player 1: cyan (#6ef0ff) - labeled "P1"
- Player 2: orange (#ffb03a) - labeled "P2"
- Player 3: green (#7cff8a) - labeled "P3"
- Player 4: pink (#ff6ec7) - labeled "P4"
- Player 5: purple (#c08cff) - labeled "P5"

Orbs have glowing shadow effects and a small white highlight dot offset to the top-left. In multiplayer modes (2+ players), each orb displays its player label text below it.

**Core Mechanic & Goal:** Dodge falling rectangular blocks that spawn continuously from the top of the screen. Blocks are rotating squares (22-56px) in vibrant hues - purple/pink for homing blocks (hue 265-295), red/orange for normal blocks (hue 340-400). All blocks have glow effects. Blocks fall with increasing speed and spawn rate as difficulty ramps. Survive as long as possible to maximize score. Score increases by 10 points per second survived, plus bonus points from "close calls" (grazes).

**Controls:**
- 1P mode: Left/Right arrow keys OR A/D keys, or touch/drag anywhere on screen
- 2P mode: P1 uses A/D, P2 uses arrow keys
- 3P mode: adds P3 with J/L keys
- 4P mode: adds P4 with F/H keys
- 5P mode: adds P5 with comma/period keys
- Touch controls: Screen divides into vertical lanes - tap your lane to control that player, then drag anywhere
- Number keys 1-5 or click mode buttons to select player count
- Space or Enter to start game

Players move horizontally at 420 pixels/second (1.4x speed on touch). Collision detection uses a slightly smaller hitbox (radius-3 pixels) than the visual orb.

**Enemies & Obstacles:**
Falling blocks with two behaviors:
1. Normal blocks: Fall straight down, increasing speed with difficulty (180-660+ px/s)
2. Homing blocks: Track nearest living player with horizontal acceleration (220-310 strength based on difficulty), max horizontal speed 160-250 px/s. Spawn chance increases from 15% to 55% with difficulty.

All blocks rotate continuously with random spin speeds. Spawn rate accelerates from every ~0.5s to ~0.1s. Multiple simultaneous spawns increase with difficulty and player count. Blocks despawn when they exit the bottom of screen.

**Graze Mechanic:** If a player passes within 26 pixels of a block's center without hitting it (using the smaller hitbox), they score a "close call" graze worth +5 bonus points. Each block can only be grazed once per player. Grazes trigger a floating "+5" text particle in the player's color, and their graze counter pulses with a scale effect.

**Difficulty Scaling:** Difficulty formula: 0-70 seconds = linear 0→1, then +1 per 90 seconds after. Affects block speed (adds up to 340+ px/s), homing strength, spawn frequency, and homing block probability. Level counter = floor(difficulty * 10) + 1, displayed with pulsing yellow animation when it increases.

**On-Screen HUD:**

*Single Player Mode:*
- Top left: "Score [value]" in white bold 22px
- Top right: "Best [value]" in gray
- Below score: Survival time in cyan monospace font (M:SS.CS format)
- Below best score: Best survival time in gray
- Lower left: "Close calls [count]" in yellow/gold, pulses on graze
- Top center during game: "Level [number]" in white, flashes yellow on level-up

*Multiplayer Mode (2-5 players):*
- Vertical lane dividers between player zones (subtle white lines at 5% opacity)
- Top of screen: Each player's colored score chip showing "P# [score]" in their color
- Below each score: Graze count "○ [number]" in gold, or "OUT" in red if eliminated
- Center top: Shared survival timer in monospace
- "Level [number]" display below timer

**Death & Game Over:**
When a player's hitbox overlaps a block's rectangle, they explode into 26 colored particles that fly outward then fall with gravity, screen shakes for 12 frames, and a "[Player] OUT" floater appears in multiplayer.

*Single player:* Game over screen shows "GAME OVER" in red, final score vs best score, survival time (marks new records in gold), and graze stats with bonus breakdown.

*Multiplayer:* Last survivor triggers game over. Winner announcement displays (or "DRAW" for ties), followed by ranked leaderboard showing all players with their color, score, and graze count, plus total round duration.

**Menu System:**
Start screen shows:
- "ORB DODGE" title (white 40px bold)
- "Dodge the falling blocks" subtitle
- Control instructions (changes based on selected mode)
- "How many players?" prompt
- Five mode selection buttons (1P through 5P) in a horizontal row, currently selected mode highlighted in cyan with thicker border
- Click button or press number key to select mode, then Space/Enter/tap to start

Game over screen shows same button row to restart with any player count.

**Visual Polish:**
- All colored elements have matching glow/shadow effects
- Particle explosions on death with color matching player
- Floating score indicators (+5 for grazes, "P# OUT" on elimination) that drift upward and fade
- Screen shake on collision impacts
- Scale pulse animations on graze events and level-ups
- Background stars in parallax motion
- Responsive layout that fills window and scales UI appropriately

**Persistence:** Saves best score, best time, and last selected mode to localStorage.
