Make your own game

Gridiron Dash was built by malaynamanley0822 with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Gridiron Dash opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Gridiron Dash

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a responsive 2D canvas arcade football game titled “Gridiron Dash,” shown from a top-down/overhead view of a vertical football field. Use a dark navy full-screen background and a centered field rectangle spanning most of the screen width, with a green playing surface, bright gold end-zone strips at the top and bottom, white vertical yard lines, and white yard numbers (10 through 90) near the end zones. The player starts near the bottom of the field and must run upward to the gold top end zone for a touchdown.

Use a simple crisp arcade visual style: the quarterback is a cyan/blue circular avatar labeled “QB” in white; defenders are red circular avatars labeled “D”; the football is a small brown oval that can fly through the air; and successful impacts/touchdowns create small colored square particle bursts. Defenders should continuously chase the player, with their speed increasing slightly on later downs. Keep the field and entities geometric and readable rather than detailed or realistic.

At the top HUD, display three items: “HOME 0 — 0 AWAY” with the home score increasing by 7 per touchdown, the current down and yards such as “1st & 20,” and a countdown clock starting at “0:30.” Below that, show a pill-shaped hint message such as “Reach the gold end zone • dodge defenders.” During temporary events, show messages such as “TOUCHDOWN! New drive — go again,” “Stopped short — new down,” “Ball in the air — keep moving!,” and “Incomplete pass — keep running.”

Core gameplay: clicking KICK OFF begins a play with score 0, first down, 20 yards, and a 30-second timer. Each play resets the quarterback to the bottom portion of the field and spawns 4 defenders, increasing to as many as 7 based on the down. Move the QB with arrow keys or WASD in eight-directional movement; clamp the player inside the field. Normal movement speed is about 150 pixels/second, while holding Shift gives a burst speed of about 250 pixels/second. On touch devices, show a translucent four-button directional pad at the lower left and PASS and BURST buttons at the lower right. The on-screen controls should be hidden before play and after game over.

When a defender touches the QB, briefly make the QB invulnerable/blink, emit a white impact burst, and reduce the current yards by 4. If the resulting yards reach 1 or lower, the play becomes a turnover. If the player reaches the top end-zone boundary, award a touchdown and 7 points, emit a gold burst, reset to a new first-and-20 play, and continue. After three touchdowns (score reaches 21), end the game with a “CHAMPIONS!” overlay and text reporting the final score. For a stopped play, advance the down and reset to 20 yards; on the fourth down, end with a “TURNOVER” overlay and text that the defense shut down the drive. Also end the play as a turnover when the 30-second clock expires.

Implement passing as a simple arcade action, not a catch mechanic: pressing Space or the PASS touch button launches a brown oval football from just above the QB, with a generally upward trajectory and a slight horizontal direction based on the held left/right input. While the ball is active, further pass attempts do nothing. Apply gravity to the ball; deactivate it if it reaches the field’s top boundary or leaves the left/right field edges, then display “Incomplete pass — keep running.” The QB can continue moving while the ball is airborne.

Start with a full-screen dark translucent overlay containing a bordered navy panel with a cyan outline/glow. The panel should show the large yellow/orange-shadowed title “GRIDIRON DASH,” explanatory text: “A fast, original arcade football drive. Dodge defenders, reach the end zone, and keep your drive alive.”, keyboard instructions explaining arrows/WASD to run, Space to pass, and Shift for burst, plus a yellow KICK OFF button. Use a matching game-over overlay with the result title, final-score message, and a PLAY AGAIN button. Make the layout responsive for desktop and mobile, with large touch-friendly controls and a clean system sans-serif font.
