Make your own game

Glowcoil was built by parhamprog-droid with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Glowcoil opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Glowcoil

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a responsive browser arcade game titled “Glowcoil,” a neon grid-based Snake game. Use a full-screen dark navy/purple play area (constrained to a roughly square 900px maximum container) with a subtle radial gradient background. Center a 24x24 square grid; the playable interior is bounded by the cells from x=1 through 22 and y=1 through 22, with a glowing magenta rectangular border around that interior. Draw faint purple-blue grid lines across the whole 24x24 board.

The player controls a growing glowing coil/snake. Start each run with a four-segment horizontal snake near the lower-middle of the board at grid coordinates head (12,14), then body (11,14), (10,14), (9,14), moving initially to the right. On every movement step, advance the head one grid cell in the current direction, add the new head, and remove the tail unless the head lands on the collectible. Prevent immediate 180-degree reversals. If the head hits the inner boundary (x<1, x>=23, y<1, or y>=23) or any part of its own body, end the run immediately. The snake head should be a bright white glowing square, while the body consists of cyan/teal glowing square segments with a slight color/value fade toward the tail.

Place one collectible pulse at a random open interior grid cell, never on the snake. Render it as a small lime-green circular orb with a white center and strong green radial glow. When the head eats it, increment SCORE by one, grow the snake by retaining the tail, spawn another pulse in a random unoccupied interior cell, and briefly intensify the pulse glow. The movement interval starts at 0.15 seconds per grid step and accelerates with score using interval = max(0.055, 0.15/(1 + score*0.055)); display the resulting pace as (1 + score*0.055) to one decimal followed by “x”.

At the top overlay, show the cyan glowing brand “GLOWCOIL” at left. At right show three compact stats labeled SCORE, BEST, and PACE, with large white glowing values beneath them; persist BEST in localStorage under the key “glowcoil-best” and update it when a run ends with a new high score. The overlay should not block the board except for the start/end modal. On initial load, show a centered translucent near-black modal card with a thin cyan border and subtle cyan/pink glow. It contains the large white neon title “GLOWCOIL,” the instruction text “Eat the pulse. Grow longer. The coil accelerates with every bite.”, a cyan-outlined dark button labeled “START RUN,” and the hint “Arrow keys / WASD · Swipe or tap the pad.” Hide the modal once the run begins. A spacebar press should also start a run when not running.

When the snake collides, stop the run and show the modal again with title “RUN ENDED,” copy formatted as “You reached [score] points. The coil moves faster as it grows.”, and a button labeled “RESTART.” Clicking it resets the snake, score, direction, speed, and food and starts a fresh run. Keep SCORE, BEST, and PACE visible during play and on the modal.

Support keyboard controls: ArrowUp/W move up, ArrowDown/S move down, ArrowLeft/A move left, and ArrowRight/D move right. Also provide an on-screen touch directional pad at the bottom center: four dark translucent rounded-square buttons in a cross layout with ▲, ◀, ▼, and ▶, outlined in cyan; tapping them changes direction. Support swipe gestures on the canvas, choosing horizontal or vertical direction from the dominant swipe axis, while ignoring very short swipes. Make the layout responsive and touch-friendly.

Use a crisp minimalist neon arcade aesthetic: black-to-deep-purple background, cyan grid and snake glow, hot-pink boundary and modal accents, lime collectible, white highlights, soft bloom/shadows, bold geometric sans-serif typography, and no decorative scenery beyond the grid, border, HUD, modal, snake, and pulse.
