Make your own game

Neon Coil was built by May Nisa with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Neon Coil opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Neon Coil

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a responsive single-screen arcade Snake game titled "Neon Coil". Use a dark futuristic neon aesthetic: the full viewport has a nearly black navy background with a subtle radial gradient that is brighter blue-purple near the center. In the middle, render a tall rectangular playfield on a fine cyan grid, with 24 columns and 34 rows. The board is outlined by a thin magenta/pink glowing border. Size the board responsively so it fits the viewport with margins; on desktop it is approximately 480px wide by 680px tall, while preserving the 24:34 cell ratio. Keep the canvas full-screen and center the board vertically with a slight downward offset.

Gameplay is classic grid-based Snake. At the beginning of a run, the snake is three cells long, arranged horizontally around row 17 with its head at column 7 and body trailing left through columns 6 and 5. It initially travels right. The player steers with up/down/left/right directions, using either keyboard Arrow keys or WASD, and also provide four large touch/click arrow buttons below the board in a diamond/D-pad layout: up centered above left/down/right. Prevent immediate 180-degree reversals. Movement advances on a timed grid step; the initial movement rate is about one step every 0.16 seconds, and the rate increases as the snake grows, using speed = 1.0 plus 0.08 for every segment beyond the starting length, capped to a minimum interval of about 0.055 seconds. The snake wraps around nothing: hitting any board edge ends the run. Hitting its own body also ends the run.

Place one cyan glowing spark/food cell at a random unoccupied grid coordinate. Draw it as a small bright cyan orb with a soft glow and a slight rhythmic pulsing size. When the snake head enters the spark, add 10 points, increase the snake length by one by not removing its tail on that step, increase speed according to the growth rule, spawn a brief burst of roughly 14 tiny cyan glowing particles radiating from the eaten cell, and place a new spark at a random empty cell. Otherwise, add a new head and remove the tail each movement step. The snake should be rendered as glowing square cells with a small inset margin: the head is hot magenta/pink with a stronger glow and a white highlight, while the body is violet/purple with a softer glow and translucent white inset highlight. Animate the particle effects and remove them as they fade.

Overlay a fixed HUD over the canvas. Along the top, show three dark translucent rectangular pills with thin cyan borders and cyan glow, spaced left, center, and right: "SCORE 0", "LENGTH 3" (or the current length), and "SPEED 1.0x" (or the current speed to one decimal place). Use bold uppercase lettering with letter spacing and cyan/white glow. On the initial title panel, center a dark translucent nearly black-purple modal over the board, bordered in glowing magenta with inner cyan glow. Show the large white glowing title "NEON COIL", then the instruction text: "Eat the cyan sparks. Every spark makes you longer — and faster." Below it place a bright cyan rectangular START RUN button with dark bold uppercase text and cyan glow. Hide this modal when the run begins. On collision, stop movement and show the same centered modal with heading "RUN ENDED", text formatted like "Score [score] · You reached length [length].", and a button labeled "PLAY AGAIN". Pressing the button resets the snake, score, speed, and food and starts a fresh run; pressing Space after game over should also restart. A directional input while idle before the first run may start/reset the run.

Make the design mobile-friendly: prevent page scrolling, support safe-area insets, make the board and controls fit smaller screens, and use touch-action:none for game controls. Use a clean Arial-like sans-serif font. The overall visual should match a glowing synthwave/cyber grid: cyan grid and food, magenta border and snake head, purple body, dark blue-black background, soft bloom-like shadows, and no additional enemies, power-ups, lives, weapons, or stages.
