About Breaker Belt

Pilot through a cold asteroid belt, breaking hazards for score while the HUD tracks your lives and waves. Freeze-blue haze and sharp sci-fi prompts mark every crash and restart.

How to play

Click the game above and it runs right here in your browser. No download, no installer, no account needed. Oleg Sidorkin built it with Cinevva, so it works on a phone or a tablet too.

Make your own game

Breaker Belt was built by Oleg Sidorkin with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Breaker Belt opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a 2D arcade game called "The Breaker Belt" that combines Snake and Arkanoid mechanics in a neon space setting.

**Camera & Perspective**: Top-down 2D view of a full-screen arena. Deep indigo-to-black gradient background with parallax starfield, subtle nebula clouds, and cosmic haze. The playfield fills the entire viewport with no fixed boundaries—a vast cosmic space.

**Player Avatar**: Control a glowing neon serpent (snake) that moves continuously forward through space. The serpent has a distinct head (circular, bright cyan-white glow with trailing particles) and a flowing segmented tail that follows behind in smooth curves. The tail grows longer as you progress. The head has visible collision radius; the tail segments are semi-transparent with gradient glow from head to tail tip. Visual style: electric blue/cyan neon with white core, particle trails, and soft bloom/glow effects.

**Core Mechanic**: The snake moves forward automatically at constant speed (like Snake), and the player steers left/right/up/down within the arena using WASD/arrow keys or touch-drag controls. The snake's head and body act as paddles that bounce glowing energy orbs (like Arkanoid balls). One or more cyan-blue energy orbs ricochet around the arena, and when they hit the snake they bounce off at angles based on the snake's movement. The orbs break colored brick formations floating ahead. Broken bricks explode into particles and may drop power-ups that fall slowly downward.

**Goal**: Clear waves of bricks by bouncing orbs into them. Each wave has specific brick layouts—some bricks require multiple hits (show progressive cracks/damage), some are core targets that must be destroyed to advance. Survive without dying and advance through progressively harder waves.

**Controls**:
- WASD or Arrow Keys: Steer the snake's direction (head turns smoothly, tail follows)
- Touch & Drag: Touch anywhere and drag to steer toward that point
- Space: Start game from title screen
- Double-tap or specific input: Release stuck orbs

**Obstacles & Hazards**:
- Standard bricks: One-hit blocks in various colors (blues, cyans, purples) that shatter on orb contact
- Durable bricks: Multi-hit blocks showing progressive damage (cracks appear)
- Hazard bricks: Spiked/electrified blocks that damage or destroy the snake head on contact—these have red/orange glow with danger auras
- Moving blocks: Some brick formations slide or orbit, requiring timing
- Self-collision: The snake's head colliding with its own tail causes instant death

**On-Screen HUD**: Top of screen shows rounded-rectangle pill-shaped status indicators with glowing borders:
- Left: "SCORE: [number] BEST: [number]" in white text with cyan glow
- Center: "❤️ LIVES [number]" with heart emoji, showing remaining lives (starts at 5)
- Right: "POWER: [name/dash]" showing active power-up status
- Additional wave counter visible
Large centered title "THE BREAKER BELT" appears on title screen in bold white sans-serif letters with spacing
On title screen: "PRESS [SPACE] TO START" prompt below title
Control hints at bottom: "TOUCH & DRAG—STEER TAP—CONTINUE DOUBLE TAP—RELEASE ORBS"

**Power-ups**: Glowing spherical pickups with glass-like rendering and soft glow halos that fall from destroyed bricks:
- Extra Orb (cyan/blue): Adds additional bouncing orbs to play (up to 4 total)
- Speed (orange/amber): Temporarily increases snake speed
- Life (pink/magenta): Grants extra life (heart icon)
- Time Warp (purple/violet): Slows time briefly (hourglass icon visible in HUD when active)
- Length+ (common): Makes snake tail longer
- Fireball, Magnet Head, Sticky Orb: Additional power-up types with distinct colors and effects
All power-ups have distinct color-coded glass sphere appearance with glowing inner icons

**Setting & Art Style**: Cold asteroid belt aesthetic in deep space. Freeze-blue color palette dominates: deep indigo backgrounds, cyan/electric blue neon for the snake and UI, icy white highlights, with occasional purple and magenta accents. Starfield with slow parallax motion. All visual elements have soft bloom/glow. Brick explosions create radial particle bursts. Screen shake on impacts. Sharp, clean sci-fi typography for HUD (sans-serif, uppercase, wide letter-spacing). Ethereal, cold, precise atmosphere with high contrast between glowing elements and dark space background.

**Waves & Progression**: Game starts on title screen showing "THE BREAKER BELT" title with starfield background. After pressing Space, waves begin with brief intro screens showing wave story text narration. Each wave presents a new brick formation pattern. Between waves, score tallies and story segments may appear. Lives persist across waves. Losing all lives triggers game over screen with final score.

**Death & Restart**: When the snake head hits its own tail or a hazard, the snake explodes into particles with screen shake and visual effects. A freeze-frame moment shows the death, then score summary appears with "PRESS [SPACE] TO RESTART" prompt. Quick restart flow back to title or wave 1.

**Visual Effects**: Heavy use of particle systems (brick explosions, snake trail particles, orb trails), radial gradient glows on all neon elements, screen shake on collisions, subtle camera zoom on combos, soft motion blur on fast movement, color flares when power-ups are collected. The aesthetic is "neon space ballet"—fluid, elegant, cold, and precise.
