Make your own game

The Room That Knows was built by ChessMeemer with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix The Room That Knows opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for The Room That Knows

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a first-person 3D psychological horror exploration game titled “The Room That Knows.” The player wakes inside a dim, enclosed bedroom they do not remember entering. The room is rectangular, approximately 10 by 9 units, with gray walls, a dark ceiling, a worn brown-gray floor, heavy fog, sparse blue moonlight, and one warm ceiling light. Use a restrained, low-poly/real-time 3D aesthetic with muted charcoal, gray, brown, and desaturated blue colors, soft shadows, dust motes floating in the air, and strong darkness beyond the light. The game should feel quiet, uncanny, and claustrophobic rather than action-oriented.

Use a first-person mouse-look camera with a small white circular crosshair. Support WASD movement, mouse look, Shift sprint, C crouch, F to toggle a forward-facing flashlight, E to interact, and Escape to pause. The flashlight should cast a cool white cone in front of the camera. The opening screen is a dark translucent centered panel with the title split over two lines, “THE ROOM / THAT KNOWS,” a short premise stating that the player woke in an unfamiliar room, the door is locked, and the clock is counting backward, plus the control instructions. Include “WAKE UP” and “SETTINGS” buttons. Settings opens a text note explaining that audio can be toggled from the pause menu and that the room remembers what the player touches. Include atmospheric, sparse sine-tone audio cues, a mute toggle in the pause screen, and a brief low-frequency scare sound.

Build the bedroom with these clearly visible landmarks and approximate layout: a bed against the back-left area; a desk and chair at the back-right; a small glowing red digital clock on the desk showing 03:17 AM; a dark television cabinet on the right/front side with a black screen; a mirror mounted on the left wall; a tall dark wardrobe on the left side; a telephone on a surface near the back wall; a framed photograph; and a locked door centered in the south/front wall. The door has a visible handle and is initially solid and collidable. Add the ominous wall text “YOU HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE.” in dark red serif lettering, positioned like a supernatural message in the room. Use simple furniture-kit-like low-poly models or equivalently subdued geometric props, with soft shadows and no bright colors except the clock and occasional red accents.

HUD: at the top-left show “WAKEFULNESS: 100”; at the top-right show the current time, initially “03:17 AM”; at the bottom-left show “FLASHLIGHT · [F] / INTERACT · [E] / PAUSE · [ESC]”; when looking at an interactable within roughly 3.2 units, show “[E] INTERACT” near the lower center. Keep the HUD understated, small, uppercase, gray text with subtle shadows. Do not add combat, enemies, weapons, inventory items, or health systems; the visible wakefulness value remains 100.

Interaction is the core mechanic. Pressing E while aiming at a nearby object pauses the game and opens a parchment-colored, centered story panel with a serif font, title, text, and a Close button. The panel blocks movement until closed. Interacting with the red digital clock opens a note titled “03:17 AM” saying the display is warm to the touch and that the numbers are going backward, and increases an internal memory count by 1. The phone can be used once: show “INCOMING CALL” with “No caller ID. The line is silent. Then, in your own voice: ‘Don’t turn around.’” and increase memory by 1; using it again shows “CALLER ID” and “BEDROOM,” then trigger a very brief full-screen black scare. The wardrobe opens once with a slight door rotation and offset, showing a dark interior; display “WARDROBE” and “The inside is deeper than the room should allow.”, increase memory by 1, and trigger a brief black scare after about 1.8 seconds. The framed photograph displays “PHOTOGRAPH” and “Everyone in the picture is looking at the camera. You are looking away.”, increasing memory by 1. The television displays “VIDEO RECORDING” and “The screen stays black. A voice from inside the static says: ‘If you’re watching this, you’ve forgotten again.’” and increases memory by 2. The mirror displays “THE MIRROR” and “Your reflection blinks a fraction of a second late.”, increases memory by 1, and triggers a brief black scare after about 1.5 seconds. Scares should be short, silent-black full-screen overlays with optional centered pale serif text, followed by restoration of the ceiling light; they are not enemies or sustained jumpscares.

The locked door interaction should show “LOCKED” and “The keyhole is scratched from the inside.” until the player has at least 3 memory points. Once memory is 3 or greater, interacting with the door unlocks it, shows “THE LOCK” and “It opens with the memory of a key.”, removes the door collision and hides/removes the door, and then shortly afterward shows the ending note “THE OTHER ROOM” with “Behind the door is another bedroom. A figure inside looks exactly like you. ‘YOU’RE EARLY THIS TIME.’” Leave the player in the unsettling opened doorway/room state. Also support pressing R after the door has been unlocked to reset the door and show a loop note titled “LOOP” with “You wake again. 03:17 AM. YOU HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE.” This reinforces the repeating-nightmare structure.

The digital clock should visibly count backward from 03:17 AM roughly once every 16 seconds while unpaused, stopping around 03:10 AM; update the HUD and clock face color between red shades. Looking around and exploring should be the only required navigation. The first time the mirror is seen, if the wardrobe has not yet been opened, it may subtly shift later after roughly 24 seconds to make the room feel observant. Include a subtle fog falloff and floating dust particles. Keep all text, events, and object behavior grounded in the described room and interactions, with no invented combat or additional levels. The overall presentation should match a dark cinematic web horror demo: black-vignette opening and pause overlays, restrained UI, realistic darkness, warm ceiling pool of light against cool moonlight, and uncanny narrative notes.
