About Horizon

A simple but fun 3D Sandbox Survival Game. See how long you can last!

How to play

Click the game above and it runs right here in your browser. No download, no installer, no account needed. Khandaker built it with Cinevva, so it works on a phone or a tablet too.

I can't stop playing! This is an addiction, and it's the only thing distracting me from me and my husband's divorce. I'm looking for a new husband by the way.

ok putting the hotbar on the title screen is kinda neat haha, it tells me right away what sort of survival game youre going for. are you thinking of keeping that in the menu long term?

Great game! Can you fix the footsteps sounds, pls?

Cinevva AssistantAI

Two questions from earlier in this thread are still hanging: whether creative mode is coming, and the footstep sounds. Those are the creator's call, so a one-line answer here would help even if it's "not yet."

For the footsteps, the fix is usually one prompt in the editor: "the footstep sound repeats too fast and it's too loud. Trigger it from the walk animation instead of every frame of movement, and drop the volume." If it's worse on one surface than the others, say which.

And if you'd rather not wait, remix the game and make that edit yourself. Remixing costs nothing.

Make your own game

Horizon was built by Khandaker with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Horizon opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Horizon

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a 3D open-world survival game with a low-poly art style and procedurally generated terrain.

**Camera & Perspective:** Third-person over-the-shoulder camera behind a human worker character, with toggle to first-person view (C key). The camera follows the player smoothly with collision detection against terrain and obstacles. Mouse pointer-lock controls for desktop; virtual joysticks for mobile.

**Player Avatar:** A low-poly human worker character visible in third-person mode. The character has animated idle, walk, run, punch, hit-reaction, and death animations. In first-person mode, show a simple arm extending from the camera that swings when attacking.

**World & Terrain:** Infinite procedural world using chunk-based streaming (16×16 meter chunks, 2-chunk radius around player). Terrain generated with fractal Perlin noise featuring multiple biomes: grassland (bright green), forest (darker green with more trees), desert (tan/yellow with sparse vegetation), and mountain (gray with tall peaks). Water plane at fixed level creates lakes in low areas. Sky is a gradient dome that transitions from blue during day to dark purple at night, with animated sun and moon discs that orbit overhead. Scattered low-poly props: trees (various models), rocks (multiple variants), crystal ore nodes, grass clumps, and prefab wooden houses with chests inside.

**Core Mechanic:** Survival gameplay loop - gather resources by hitting trees/rocks/crystals, manage health/hunger/stamina bars, craft tools and building blocks, fend off enemies, and survive day-night cycles.

**Controls:** WASD movement (camera-relative strafing), Shift to sprint (drains stamina), Space to jump. Mouse to look around. F key or left-click to attack/gather/interact. Number keys 1-9 to select hotbar items. E to open inventory/crafting menu. B to toggle build mode. C to toggle camera view. T to restart.

**Combat & Enemies:** Melee combat with swing cooldown. Multiple enemy types: passive deer and chicken that wander and flee from player; hostile alien that chases player; zombies that spawn at night and path toward player; two mini-bosses (Giant Skeleton and Vampire) in fixed zones with state-machine AI (idle, chase, wind-up attack with red material flash, stagger, death). Enemies show floating damage numbers when hit, with knockback and particle effects. Player can be damaged with invulnerability frames and knockback.

**Resource Gathering:** Hit trees to get wood and fiber, rocks for stone, crystal nodes for ore. Resources have HP bars shown in status banner. Different tools (axe for trees, pickaxe for rocks/ore, sword for combat) provide damage multipliers. Resources respawn when chunks reload.

**Inventory & Crafting:** 9-slot hotbar at bottom center showing item icons and counts, plus 32-slot backpack accessed with E key. Drag-and-drop system to organize items. Crafting recipes visible in backpack panel: axe (wood), pickaxe (wood + stone), sword (wood + stone), building blocks (wood + stone). Items stack in single slots. Selected hotbar slot highlighted with green border.

**Building:** Toggle build mode with B key. When active, shows translucent ghost block preview at crosshair aim point. Press F to place solid wooden blocks that become permanent collision objects. Requires building blocks in inventory. Blocks placed on terrain surface, cannot place if blocked by existing colliders.

**Safe Houses:** Procedurally placed wooden cabins scattered across the world. Each contains a loot chest that glows with green translucent material. Entering house vicinity creates "safe zone" where enemies back off and stamina regenerates faster. Chests contain food, wood, stone, and fiber.

**Survival Stats HUD:** Top-left corner shows three horizontal bars: red health bar with heart icon (drains when hit or starving), orange hunger bar with drumstick icon (drains slowly over time, faster when sprinting), cyan stamina bar with lightning icon (drains when sprinting, recovers when walking/idle, faster in safe zones). Each shows current value out of 100. Auto-consume food when hunger drops below 35.

**Day-Night Cycle:** Continuous time-of-day cycle. Top-right shows "Biome: [grassland/forest/desert/mountain]" and "Time: Day/Night". Sky transitions from bright blue (day) to dark with stars (night). Zombies spawn during night. Music shifts between calm procedural melodies (day) and tense chase music (when enemies aggro).

**Status Banner:** Sliding text banner at top-center displays contextual messages: resource HP when hitting nodes, combat notifications, "Safe zone" when in house, sprint cooldown timer, build mode status with block count, interaction prompts ("Press F to loot chest"), boss proximity warnings ("Giant Skeleton nearby - watch for red wind-up flash"), night spawn counts.

**On-Screen Controls (Mobile):** Left side: circular movement joystick. Right side: circular look joystick. Bottom-right cluster: attack button, interact button, build button. Top-right buttons: inventory, camera toggle, restart.

**Visual Style:** Clean low-poly aesthetic with flat-shaded colors. Warm lighting from directional sun with soft shadows. Simple materials with low roughness. Particle effects for hits (colored fragments), fog for depth. Floating damage numbers in yellow (player attacks) or white (taking damage). Brief material color pulses when entities take damage. Smooth lerp-based camera movement and state transitions.

**Audio:** Procedural generative music system switching between calm and chase moods. Sound effects for footsteps, resource hits (wood, rock, ore), weapon impacts, player hurt, enemy defeated, and UI confirmations. All audio is dynamic and plays at appropriate times.

**Goal:** Survive as long as possible by gathering resources, crafting better tools, building defenses, managing hunger/health/stamina, avoiding or fighting enemies, and exploring the procedurally generated world. No explicit win condition - sandbox survival experience.
