Make your own game

The Last Shift was built by Jeshon Jackman with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix The Last Shift opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for The Last Shift

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Recreate a first-person 3D atmospheric maintenance-horror game titled “The Last Shift,” set on Blackwater Oil Rig 6 during a night technician shift. Use a dark, industrial, minimal low-detail visual style: a nearly black blue-green scene, heavy distance fog, cool cyan work lighting, a red alarm light, wet metallic deck surfaces, and subdued realistic materials. The player is an unseen technician controlled in FPS view, with mouse look and keyboard movement through a compact enclosed rig deck/corridor. Include jumping and gravity. Show a small glowing pale crosshair at screen center and a visible flashlight body at the lower-right of the camera; the flashlight is a forward-facing cool-white spotlight that can be toggled with F and illuminates the dark environment.

Build the environment as a rectangular indoor/covered oil-rig maintenance deck: a broad dark metal floor, ceiling, outer side walls, end walls, partial mid-walls creating side areas, repeated ceiling beams, overhead pipes, and several narrow wet strips on the deck. Use cool hemisphere/directional lighting, fog, shadows, a faint storm-like changing atmosphere, blue-white ceiling lamps, and a red alarm lamp toward the far end. Place the player at the south end of the deck. At the west side, place a large labeled industrial machine “Pump 03,” made from a dark wet-metal rectangular pump body with three yellow valves, a red front panel, and a yellow label. At the east side, place “Generator 01,” a dark generator block with four cylindrical components. At the north/end of the deck, place an interactable maintenance-bay door. The scene should feel empty and tense; there is no visible enemy combat, weapon, health bar, or score.

The shift clock begins at 11:00 PM and advances automatically with real time, displayed in a bordered HUD panel at the upper-right. The HUD upper-left title reads “BLACKWATER OIL RIG 6 · NIGHT TECHNICIAN.” Along the lower-left, show a bordered translucent objective panel headed “TONIGHT’S SHIFT” in amber, initially saying: “Inspect West Side Pump 03 and record its status.” Show contextual interaction messages near the lower center. The game clock should progress through the night and drive scripted atmosphere/objective changes: shortly after 11 PM, warn that the maintenance bay doors are due to lock; around 11:05 PM show “KNOCKING FROM OUTSIDE THE MAINTENANCE BAY. DO NOT OPEN.” and pulse the red alarm; shortly after midnight at 12:14 AM flicker the east deck lighting and instruct the player to walk straight and not look over the railing; later mention the pale band of morning and finishing the final log. These are text/lighting events only—do not invent a visible monster or add combat.

Implement the core interaction sequence exactly. Near Pump 03, E initially gives the prompt “E inspect Pump 03 · R repair”; R repairs it once, changes the objective to “Record Pump 03 in the official logbook with L.” and displays that the player tightens panel bolts and the pump starts with a reluctant thud. After repair, E at the pump records an official log entry with the current time, West Side area, Pump 03, status “Working properly,” and notes “Panel reseated. No abnormalities detected.” Then change the objective to “Return to the maintenance bay and lock the doors at 11:00 PM.” Near the maintenance-bay door, E locks it, changes the objective to “Patrol the east deck. Do not look over the railing at 2:14 AM.” and displays “Maintenance bay locked. Ignore any knocking.” Near Generator 01, E records a log entry with current time, Generator Area, Generator 01, status “Operational,” and notes “Voltage stable. Exhaust normal.” Interaction only works within a short proximity radius and should present prompts such as “E inspect Generator 01” and “Maintenance bay locked.”

Add a logbook overlay toggled with L. When open, pause player movement and game events and show a centered, slightly rotated, tan paper two-page book over the dark scene. The left page is “OFFICIAL SHIFT LOG” and lists every recorded entry in a serif typeface; before any inspection it says “No entries yet. Use the logbook near inspected equipment.” The right page is “PERSONAL NOTES.” It initially says “PERSONAL NOTES — Press N to read the private page.” Press N while the book is open to reveal the private note: “11:00 PM — The rig sounds occupied. The previous technician left their coat in the break room. No forwarding address. Three rules were written on the back of the duty roster. I copied them exactly. 1. Lock the maintenance bay at 11:00. Ignore knocking. 2. If you see the yellow raincoat, do not approach. 3. If the rig goes quiet, do not assume it is empty.” Do not implement a yellow-raincoat character unless explicitly required by these notes; the actual playable mechanics are inspection, repair, logging, door locking, patrol, flashlight, and scripted lighting/text tension.

Use a restrained industrial UI: translucent charcoal panels with thin blue-gray borders, pale blue-gray text, amber objective heading, uppercase letter spacing, and a tiny glowing center crosshair. Include responsive layout behavior so the book becomes a single visible page on narrow screens. Controls: FPS movement and mouse look from the control system, Space to jump if supported, E to interact/inspect/lock/log, R to repair Pump 03, F to toggle flashlight, L to open/close logbook, and N to switch to the private notes page while the book is open. Aim for an oppressive, cinematic night-shift atmosphere rather than an action game.
