Make your own game

Running Fred was built by Jacob Yakemovicz STUDENT with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Running Fred opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable third-person 3D endless runner titled “Running Fred.” Use a dark stylized low-poly/nighttime forest setting with a fixed perspective camera following behind and slightly above the player. The world should have a deep navy sky with fog, stars, a warm glowing moon, distant dark mountain/ridge silhouettes, and rows of pine trees on both sides of a long running path. The path is a dark green rectangular strip over darker forest ground, divided visually into three lanes by subtle green lines. Use soft shadows, simple faceted geometry, and a colorful arcade-game look.

The player is Fred, a small stylized kid character centered initially in the middle lane, running forward automatically. If available, use a low-poly animated male character model with a sprint/walk animation; tint his clothing according to the selected skin. Add the visible playful accessories from the reference implementation: nerd glasses and a purple bow tie. Keep the player moving forward continuously while the environment, hazards, collectibles, and pursuing enemy move toward the camera to create the illusion of forward motion. The camera follows Fred from behind, looking down the path; smoothly track his lane and jumping height.

The core objective is to survive as long as possible and maximize distance and coins. Fred can switch among exactly three lanes and jump. Desktop controls: Left Arrow or A moves one lane left, Right Arrow or D moves one lane right, Space/Arrow Up/W jumps. Mobile/on-screen controls: large left and right arrow buttons at the lower left and a large blue JUMP button at the lower right. Lane changes should be bounded to the three lanes and smoothly interpolate horizontally. Jumping uses vertical velocity and gravity, allowing one jump while grounded; hazards can be avoided by changing lanes or jumping.

Spawn and recycle hazards along the path at varying lanes: faceted gray fallen rocks, groups of three light metallic glowing spikes, and dark pits with a stone rim. Place them ahead at intervals and recycle them farther down the path after they pass the player, randomizing their lanes. Collision with a hazard in Fred’s lane ends the run unless Fred is currently high enough to clear that hazard or has an active shield. A shield absorbs a collision and is consumed. Also include a stylized Grim Reaper pursuing Fred from behind: a dark hooded cone-like cloak, pale skull face, and large curved scythe. Keep the reaper following Fred’s horizontal position and gradually closing the gap; if it gets too far ahead/close to the player (the reaper catches him), end the run. The screenshot should visibly communicate the threat of the reaper behind Fred, though the reaper need not dominate the screen.

Add floating collectibles distributed through the lanes and recycled after passing: bright gold ring-shaped coins, plus glowing faceted power-ups in cyan for SHIELD, orange for BOOST, and purple for MAGNET. A coin is collected when Fred is near it in the same lane; MAGNET allows pickups from any lane for its duration. SHIELD lasts temporarily and protects from one hazard collision. BOOST temporarily increases running speed; otherwise speed begins around 8.5 and gradually rises, capped around 15, so the run accelerates over time. MAGNET lasts temporarily as well. Show the currently active power-up label in the HUD.

Build a clean full-screen HUD over the canvas. At top left show the uppercase title “RUNNING FRED.” At top right show DIST with the current rounded-down distance, COINS with the persistent wallet plus coins earned in the current run, and the active power-up label when applicable. Near the bottom center show a rounded dark hint pill such as “Fred is a kid — dodge spikes, pits, traps, and grab power-ups!” On the lower controls show left/right buttons and JUMP. Include a purple “SKIN SHOP” button near the upper-right below the stats.

Implement game over behavior: stop the run when Fred hits an unprotected obstacle or is caught by the reaper, hide the hint and normal movement controls, and show a red “RUN AGAIN” button. Pressing it resets the player, distance, temporary powers, reaper, and recycled object positions for a fresh run. Persist the best distance and accumulated coins between runs using local storage or equivalent. The skin shop should open as a centered dark modal panel titled “Fred’s Skin Shop,” show the current coin total, and offer three color-tint skins: Classic (free, blue/teal around #3c91a7), Red Hoodie (15 coins, red around #d1495b), and Gold Kid (30 coins, gold around #e9b949). Highlight the selected skin, deduct coins when purchasing a non-free skin, persist the selected skin, and apply its tint to Fred on subsequent runs. Include a CLOSE button. Make the interface responsive and touch-friendly, with rounded buttons, bold white typography, dark blue panels, and blue/purple/red accent colors matching the reference.
