About Neon Racer

Race through neon-lit city streets, navigating tight turns and dodging oncoming traffic as you push your speed to the limit. Master sharp jumps, drift around sharp corners, and collect coins while battling flying drones in an electrifying cyberpunk world.

How to play

Click the game above and it runs right here in your browser. No download, no installer, no account needed. Yuvaan Jain built it with Cinevva, so it works on a phone or a tablet too.

Make your own game

Neon Racer was built by Yuvaan Jain with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Neon Racer opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Neon Racer

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Rebuild a playable browser game titled “NEON RACER,” a third-person 3D endless cyberpunk highway racer. Use a chase camera positioned behind and above a futuristic player car, looking down a long road that scrolls toward the camera as the car advances. The camera should smoothly follow the car’s lateral movement and tilt/lean the car slightly while steering; during nitro, widen the camera field of view for a speed sensation. The scene is dark and atmospheric with exponential fog, a deep navy/purple sky, glowing cyan lane markers, pink and orange neon curbs, luminous purple/cyan lighting, and a dense futuristic city made from tall glowing buildings, window bands, and occasional elevated sky bridges on both sides of the road. Give the road a wet, reflective dark-blue appearance and use emissive neon materials, bloom-like glowing colors, shadows, and small particle bursts for an arcade cyberpunk look.

The player drives a compact futuristic race car centered on a three-lane road. Model the car with a dark blue metallic body and cabin, cyan headlights, red rear lights, cyan underglow, wheels, and a rear nitro flame that appears only while boosting. The car can move laterally across the road, constrained to the roadway, using A/D or left/right touch buttons. W accelerates, S brakes, SPACE drifts when held while steering, and SHIFT activates nitro while nitro fuel remains. On desktop, prevent scrolling from these keys; on touch devices provide large on-screen left/right, DRIFT, and NITRO buttons. The car automatically moves forward, with base speed increasing gradually as distance increases and zone number rises. Braking reduces speed, while nitro greatly increases speed, drains a 0–100 nitro meter, enables a temporary FAST MODE indicator, shows the exhaust flame, widens the camera FOV, and awards extra score while active. Drifting should make steering sharper, visibly lean the car, emit tiny tire particles, accumulate drift points, and increase a combo up to 4; releasing a sufficiently long drift banks the drift score into the main score.

Make the road an endless scrolling course. Spawn waves of hazards and pickups ahead at random lane positions: gold rotating ring coins in lines of three, cyan faceted power pickups, orange road barriers, purple flying drones with cyan rings that sway side-to-side, and dark blue oncoming traffic cars. Coins increase the coin counter and award score; power pickups randomly provide ENERGY (restore nitro), SHIELD (absorbs one crash), or MULTIPLIER (temporarily doubles score), with a clear center toast and particle effect. Barriers, traffic, and drones cause crashes when the car is near them; collisions consume one of three lives, briefly slow time, shake the camera, emit orange crash particles, and reset the car toward the center. A shield prevents the life loss and is consumed. Remove objects that pass behind the player and award a small passing bonus. There is no weapon system.

The objective is to drive as far as possible, avoid hazards, collect coins and powerups, drift for points, reach checkpoints, and beat the persistent best score. Award continuous score based on speed, extra score during nitro, +100 per coin multiplied by the current combo, drift points, +1200 at each 400m checkpoint, and a small bonus for successfully passing objects. Progress through five named zones shown at the top center: ZONE 1 · NEON CITY, ZONE 2 · SKY HIGHWAY, ZONE 3 · CYBER TUNNELS, ZONE 4 · DRONE DISTRICT, and ZONE 5 · NEON SPEEDWAY. At later distance/zone progression, make spawning more frequent; in the final zone occasionally trigger a temporary “⚡ FAST MODE ⚡” toast. Show center notifications such as zone changes, checkpoints, powerup acquisition, shield saves, crashes, and game-over.

Build a neon HUD over the 3D view: top-left shows SCORE, BEST, DISTANCE in meters, and COINS; top-right shows current SPEED in KM/H, a glowing NITRO progress bar, and remaining lives as heart icons; top-center shows the current zone and FAST MODE when active. Persist the best score in local storage and show it in the game-over results. When all three lives are lost, present a dark translucent neon-framed overlay with GAME OVER, FINAL SCORE, BEST SCORE, DISTANCE, and COINS, plus PLAY AGAIN and MAIN MENU buttons. PLAY AGAIN resets the run; MAIN MENU returns to the title screen.

The initial menu should fill the screen with a dark radial purple/blue cyberpunk backdrop and a centered translucent navy panel with a thin cyan border and glow. Display large glowing white “NEON RACER” text on two lines, the pink spaced subtitle “CYBERPUNK SPEED,” and buttons PLAY, HOW TO PLAY, SETTINGS, and CREDITS. Include the tagline “Drive fast. Dodge everything. Chase the impossible score.” HOW TO PLAY should explain W accelerate, S brake, A/D steer, SPACE drift, SHIFT nitro, and the goal of driving far, dodging traffic, drifting, and collecting coins/energy. SETTINGS should offer Sound Effects and Screen Effects checkboxes and note that music is synthesized locally; CREDITS should show a short original cyberpunk arcade racing message. Use bold geometric techno typography similar to Orbitron, white text, cyan borders/glows, pink highlights, and responsive sizing.
