Make your own game

Matatu Rush was built by Sam Roby with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Matatu Rush opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Matatu Rush

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable Three.js 3D arcade driving game titled “Matatu Rush,” presented as a neon Nairobi night street-art sprint. Use a dark purple-black background and foggy nighttime atmosphere, with a wide straight dark-purple road extending into the distance, a central dashed cyan lane line, raised dark curbs, and simple blocky city buildings on both sides in alternating deep purple, blue, teal, and magenta tones. Place glowing graffiti-style floating labels such as BASS, KALI, SHENG, and VIBE around the roadside. Use bright emissive neon pink and teal accents throughout, with strong colorful lighting and an arcade aesthetic.

The player drives a large stylized matatu/minibus viewed primarily from a rear chase camera. Make it a chunky low-poly vehicle with a blue/purple body, bright cyan side and rear trim, visible rear window and bumper details, and a colorful street-art feel. The vehicle starts near the camera end of the road and can move forward and backward along the road while steering left and right; constrain its lateral position to the road. Add three simple blocky rival vehicles ahead/on the road in orange, violet, and cyan, moving gradually toward the player’s end and recycling back to far-away positions when they pass the camera. There is no demonstrated collision or damage system: rivals are visual traffic obstacles rather than a health/lives mechanic.

Scatter twelve collectible glowing hot-pink torus/ring tags along the road in alternating left/right positions and at successive distances. Animate each tag rotating. When the player gets close to a tag, hide it and award 100 points. Display the score prominently in the upper-right, starting at 0. Include a top-left title block reading “MATATU RUSH” with the subtitle “NAIROBI NIGHTS • STREET ART SPRINT,” and a top-right race HUD showing score, speed in KM/H, current gear, driving status, race mode, and a Nitro meter. Show statuses such as “TRACTION ON,” “TRACTION SLIP” when steering hard at speed, and “HANDBRAKE DRIFT” while drifting.

Implement the driving model with keyboard and touch support. W accelerates/throttles, S brakes or reverses, A/D steer, Shift activates a handbrake drift, Q/E decrease/increase gears from 1 through 5, and Space activates a limited N2O/nitro boost. Gear limits should increase through five gears, nitro should drain while boosting and recharge when not boosting, and the HUD should show the changing nitro bar, speed, gear, and traction state. Provide mobile-friendly on-screen controls: four pink circular buttons for left, throttle, brake, and right, plus an N₂O button. Add a draggable decorative steering wheel control on the lower left that steers according to horizontal pointer movement.

Support a camera toggle on the lower-right labeled “COCKPIT C” / “CHASE C.” The default chase view should smoothly follow behind and above the matatu, looking toward it and down the road; cockpit view should move the camera to the vehicle’s elevated interior/front position and look forward in its heading direction. Add a G key garage toggle and a centered modal garage overlay labeled “MATATU GARAGE,” with explanatory text, four selectable body-color swatches (pink, teal, yellow, and violet), and a “BACK TO STREET” button. While the garage is open, pause driving and change the mode label to “GARAGE MODE”; otherwise show “RACE MODE,” or “COCKPIT VIEW” in cockpit mode. Keep the garage and HUD in a dark translucent neon-bordered style.

Use soft hemisphere and warm directional lighting, shadows, emissive materials for the cyan lane marks and pink collectibles, ACES-style color handling, and atmospheric fog so distant buildings and road fade into the dark purple night. Keep the visuals clean, geometric, low-poly, and readable, with no menus beyond the HUD, controls, camera toggle, and garage described above.
