How to play

Click the game above and it runs right here in your browser. No download, no installer, no account needed. Oleg Sidorkin built it with Cinevva, so it works on a phone or a tablet too.

Make your own game

Forest Walk was built by Oleg Sidorkin with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Forest Walk opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Forest Walk

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a browser-based Three.js third-person exploration toy titled “Forest Walk.” It is a small, open-ended movement sandbox with no enemies, collectibles, score, timer, health, or win condition: the player simply walks, jumps, and looks around in a looping forest-walk video environment.

Use a full-screen perspective 3D camera and an inverted, very large sky sphere surrounding the play area. Map the provided MP4 video (assets/fix_will_walk_through_the_fore.mp4) directly onto the inside of the sphere as a looping video texture; keep it unblurred and visible from inside, with no fog or tone mapping applied to the video. The video is the background scenery and should move in time as it loops. Keep the sky sphere centered on/anchored to the camera so the distant video panorama does not appear to move closer as the player walks. The visible footage has a blurry, close-up pale/blue-gray figure or surface with darker areas and some green/brown at the edges, rather than a conventional modeled forest, so preserve the source video appearance rather than inventing a detailed forest scene.

Add a large, flat, dark navy-black ground plane at y=0, with a subtle dark blue perspective grid extending across it. Use a dark atmospheric presentation with mild exponential fog, a cool blue hemisphere light, and a soft white directional light.

The playable avatar is a cute, simple robot assembled only from clean primitive meshes, positioned at the origin on the ground. It has a rounded capsule-like blue-gray torso, a small dark belly/front panel, a rounded blue-gray spherical head, a bright cyan-blue rectangular visor on the front, a thin dark antenna rising from the head with a small glowing cyan-blue spherical tip, and two short dark rectangular feet. Use smooth shaded materials with blue-gray body color, dark navy details, and a cyan visor with a subtle emissive glow. The robot should visibly face its movement direction and have a gentle idle/running bob, without requiring a skeletal animation system.

Implement camera-relative third-person movement. Start the camera behind and above the robot, looking toward its upper body, with a smooth-damped orbit/follow camera. Let the player rotate the view by dragging the mouse over the canvas; disable panning, constrain zoom distance to a close third-person range, and prevent the camera from going below a shallow downward-looking angle. Keep the follow target about 1.2 world units above the player. Controls: W moves forward relative to the current camera view, S moves backward, A and D strafe left/right relative to the camera, and movement should accelerate/damp smoothly. Movement speed is about 6.2 units/second, with reduced air control while jumping. Press Space to jump, using a grounded jump impulse of about 7.2 and gravity around -18; collide with the y=0 ground plane. Hold R to reset the robot to (0,0,0), clear velocity, restore grounded state, and recenter the camera target.

Create a minimal translucent dark rounded HUD panel in the upper-left corner. Display the title “Forest Walk” prominently, followed by the exact control hint: “W/A/S/D move • Space jump • Mouse drag look • R reset”. Use a clean bold sans-serif style, white/light text, generous padding, and a dark glass-like background with rounded corners. On initial load, show a loading/start message such as “Loading… (click/press a key to start the video)” in the HUD or a small overlay because browser autoplay may be blocked. A pointer click or any key press should attempt to start the muted, inline looping video; once playback succeeds, hide the loading message while retaining the control hint. Ensure the experience fills the browser window, resizes responsively, and starts immediately without a build step using Three.js ES modules/import maps.
