Make your own game

Crownfrog Haunt was built by Ariel with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Crownfrog Haunt opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable 3D third-person low-poly horror-survival game titled “Crownfrog Haunt.” The player is a human survivor in a dark circular swamp, viewed from a smooth over-the-shoulder camera that follows behind the survivor and looks toward the character. Use a muddy dark-green ground bounded to a roughly 26-unit radius, with drifting green fog, dim sickly moonlight, soft shadows, black/green water pools, dead trees, scattered rocks, and small bobbing mushrooms. Use low-poly Quaternius-style models and simple procedural geometry.

The main objective is to rescue all 7 lost villagers before the Fear meter reaches 100% or the Crownfrog catches the player. Place seven small villagers around the swamp; each has a simple colored robe/body, a light head, and a glowing ring/aura at its feet. Villagers slowly panic/bob and move away when the player comes within about 7 units. Rescue a villager automatically by touching it at close range, or rescue villagers in a short radius with the shout ability. Rescued villagers disappear and increment the rescued count. Start with 0/7 rescued.

The threat is a large cursed frog monster that begins near the far edge of the swamp and continuously hunts the player. Build it from a low-poly frog model enlarged vertically, with a jagged gold crown made from a crown band and seven alternating-height spikes, extremely long stretched arms and bent stilt-like legs ending in dark claws, and bright glowing yellow-green eyes. Give it a faint bobbing animation and a dim green glow. It moves slowly when far away and faster when within roughly 14 units. When it is within about 3.7 units, Fear rises quickly; on contact at roughly 1.35 units, the player loses with a message that the Crownfrog caught them.

Fear should also rise slowly over time during play and cap at 100%. If Fear reaches 100%, end the game with a swamp-fear loss message. The player can reduce danger with abilities: Space, or the mobile SHOUT button, performs a shout/croak blast on a 1.25-second cooldown. Show a brief circular wave/animation and play a heavy impact/croak sound. A shout reduces Fear by 9 only when the Crownfrog is within about 5.4 units, and rescues every unsaved villager within about 4.2 units. Display a temporary message such as “SHOUT! The Crownfrog staggers in the fog.”

Add three glowing weapon shrines on small dark pedestals with colored glowing rings: Crown Sword around (-4,-4), Bone Spear around (10,-2), and Rust Axe around (-12,4). When the survivor approaches a shrine, automatically equip that weapon, hide the pickup, and show a message telling the player to press E or WEAPON to slash. The equipped weapon appears in the survivor’s hand. E on keyboard, or the mobile WEAPON button, performs a forward weapon slash with a brief colored arc effect and a weapon-specific cooldown. Crown Sword: range about 4.7, wide arc about 1.55 radians, cooldown 0.72 seconds, reduces Fear by 4. Bone Spear: range about 6.3, narrow arc about 0.74 radians, cooldown 0.95 seconds, reduces Fear by 6. Rust Axe: range about 3.8, very wide arc about 2.25 radians, cooldown 1.08 seconds, reduces Fear by 8. A slash also rescues villagers inside its range and forward arc; each villager rescued by the attack reduces Fear by an additional 2. If no weapon is equipped, pressing the attack control should show “Find a glowing weapon shrine first.”

Use WASD or arrow keys to move on desktop. Movement should be analog on mobile via a visible left virtual joystick; include mobile SHOUT and WEAPON circular buttons at the lower right. The survivor faces the movement direction, uses idle and walk/run animations, and briefly uses an attack/jump-like animation during shout or slash. Keep the camera centered on the survivor and smoothly follow its facing direction.

Place a fixed translucent HUD panel at the upper left with the title “CROWNFROG HAUNT,” rescued count, Fear percentage, shout cooldown, weapon name, and weapon cooldown. Include instructional text: “WASD / arrows move. Space = shout. E / WEAPON = slash. Touch: left stick.” Show temporary centered dark message banners near the top for tutorial, rescue, weapon, and win/loss messages. On victory after rescuing all seven, stop gameplay, mark the game escaped, and show “Everyone escaped the Crownfrog!” On any loss, stop gameplay and show a message instructing the player to press R to try again. Press R to reset the survivor, monster, villagers, weapons, Fear, counters, and cooldowns to their starting state. Use a dark, eerie palette with lime/yellow-green glow accents, gold crown and sword highlights, and atmospheric low-poly swamp presentation.
