Make your own game

Blobby Reef was built by Hudson Peterson with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Blobby Reef opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Blobby Reef

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Recreate "Blobby Reef" as a playable Three.js-style 3D underwater survival arena. Use a high, slightly tilted third-person perspective with a perspective camera following the player over a circular reef floor; the camera sits above and behind the player, looks toward the arena center/player, and subtly follows movement. The scene is a dark navy underwater environment with exponential blue fog, a large turquoise/teal circular floor, a dark blue raised torus boundary/current ring around the arena, faint rotating caustic rings on the floor, floating translucent bubbles, and roughly three dozen irregular rock props scattered around the outside edge. Use soft underwater lighting, shadows, bloom-like emissive colors, and a colorful stylized low-poly/soft arcade aesthetic.

The player is Blobby, a small pink-purple translucent jellyfish centered in the arena. Build the avatar procedurally with a pulsing domed bell, pale rim, two small dark eyes, and about ten dangling tentacles. It gently bobs and pulses while idle/moving and faces its swimming direction. Keep the player constrained inside the circular arena. Movement should have smooth acceleration/damping and support WASD and arrow keys; on touch devices provide a draggable circular virtual joystick at bottom-left. The player swims in the XZ plane while hovering above the floor.

Enemies continuously spawn just outside the arena edge and pursue Blobby, with the spawn interval decreasing over time and enemy speed/difficulty gradually increasing. Use stylized Kenney Cube Pets fish and crab GLB models if available: fish are smaller, hover above the floor, have 1 health, move at roughly 2-3 units/second, and are worth 20 points; crabs are low to the floor, have 2 health, are worth 35 points, and deal more contact damage. If models are unavailable, use simple colorful fallback animal-like meshes. Enemies should steer toward the player with a slight side-to-side wobble. Contact damages health on a cooldown; ordinary enemies deal about 12 damage and crabs about 17.

Blobby's main attack is not a projectile: it is a short-range electric sting/swing in the direction Blobby is facing. Press Space or hold/tap the mobile STING button. A normal attack has about a 0.48-second cooldown, reaches about 5.2 units, covers a forward arc of about 1.65 radians, and deals 1 damage. Show the attack for a fraction of a second as a bright pink-lavender crescent/arc made of glowing spark spheres and a curved ring, fading and expanding away. Defeated enemies burst into small colored spark particles and increase the score.

Include an ultimate called Blobby Unleashed. Defeating enemies fills an Unleashed meter: fish add about 10 charge, crabs about 14, and it caps at 100. Allow activation with E, the desktop Unleash button, or the mobile UNLEASH button only when full. On activation, empty the meter, create a bright expanding yellow shockwave, heal Blobby by up to 35, and enter a 9-second powered state. In this state Blobby becomes visibly much larger (about 1.42x), rises higher, gains a pink glowing aura, moves about 1.55x faster, has a larger collision radius, slowly regenerates health, and displays long, translucent pale-pink floor-sprawling tentacles radiating across the reef. Its sting cooldown becomes about 0.16 seconds, its attack reaches about 11.5 units with a much wider 2.55-radian arc, deals 3 damage, and uses bright yellow sparks. Contact with normal enemies instantly defeats them; contact with the boss deals gradual damage, while the ultimate protects Blobby from normal contact/slam damage. End the visuals and boosts when the timer expires. The shockwave should damage nearby enemies within about 8.5 units.

At score 500, spawn a boss named Crown Crab at the outer edge, and then at later 900-point milestones. It is a greatly enlarged crab (about 3.25 times the normal crab scale) with a visible golden five-spike crown and an orange warning aura. Stop ordinary spawning while a boss is present. Give it 24 health, a boss health bar, slow pursuit, periodic charges, and ground-slam shockwaves: roughly every 2.8 seconds it briefly charges and emits an expanding orange ring; the slam damages Blobby if within about 6.4 units, dealing 12 damage normally or 18 while enraged. When below 45% health, make it enrage, increase speed, enlarge it slightly, change the warning/slam visuals toward red, and use a faster roughly 2.1-second slam cycle. Defeating the Crown Crab awards 300 points and a large ultimate-charge bonus of about 45, with spark effects.

Build a responsive HUD over the game. Across the top show a rounded dark translucent badge with a jellyfish icon and “Blobby”, Health with a green-to-yellow horizontal meter, Sting with a purple-to-cyan cooldown meter, Unleashed with a multicolor charge/timer meter, Score with a cyan number, an Unleash button, and a Restart button. When the boss exists, show a centered rounded boss panel below the top HUD labeled “Crown Crab” or “Enraged Crown Crab” with a red/orange/yellow health meter. On desktop show keyboard instructions in the opening panel; on touch devices show the bottom-left joystick, a large glowing circular STING button at bottom-right, and a pill-shaped UNLEASH button above it. Hide gameplay HUD/mobile controls behind the start overlay.

Start with a centered glassy dark-blue menu panel titled “Blobby Reef”, explanatory text (“Help Blobby the jellyfish survive the reef.”), controls text for movement, electric swing, and ultimate, and a rounded gradient “Start swim” button. The Restart button resets score, health, enemies, charge, timers, difficulty, boss progression, and Blobby's normal appearance. If health reaches zero, stop gameplay and show a centered game-over panel titled “Blobby got bonked”, the final score, and a Start swim button to try again. Use polished rounded translucent UI, cyan borders, magenta/purple/yellow/cyan gradients, and readable uppercase stat labels.
