Make your own game

Wave Rider was built by Daniel Sidorkin with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Wave Rider opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Wave Rider

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable 3D endless ocean game titled “Wave Rider” using a bright, stylized low-poly aesthetic. Use a third-person chase camera looking forward over the surfer and down a long ocean lane. The scene should have a cyan/light-blue sky background with atmospheric fog, a deep teal-blue ocean plane stretching into the distance, soft shadows, and simple bright lighting. Add numerous thin white/cyan oval foam rings scattered along the water surface; they should drift toward the camera as the player advances and recycle far ahead to create an endless moving-water effect. In the far distance, show a small sandy island with two simple palm trees, softened by fog.

The player is a cute simplified humanoid surfer viewed from behind, riding a chunky coral/orange-red rounded surfboard. Model the avatar with a dark navy-blue torso/suit, a cream skin-colored spherical head, and two cream cylindrical/capsule arms extended outward. Keep the character hovering/riding just above the water, with a soft directional shadow cast onto the ocean. Place the player near the bottom-center of the view; the camera follows horizontal movement subtly and looks toward the lane ahead. The avatar should gently lean/roll while steering and bob/rotate slightly over time.

Make the core game an endless forward ride. The surfer automatically travels forward while the environment moves backward; gradually increase speed from about 12 up to a cap around 19. Allow horizontal carving with A/D or Left/Right arrows, clamping the surfer to a broad lane roughly 5.4 world units left/right. Smoothly interpolate the visual position toward the steering target. On touch devices, support dragging horizontally across the water to steer. Allow the player to hop with Space, using a short upward jump with gravity, so they can clear hazards; only permit a jump while grounded and add a brief jump cooldown.

Place nine red floating buoys ahead in a staggered/random horizontal arrangement down the course. Each buoy is a glossy red/pink sphere above a thin white vertical pole. Move buoys toward the player and recycle them far ahead with a new random x position after they pass behind. Successfully passing a buoy increases the combo, capped at x8. If the surfer gets close to a buoy horizontally and longitudinally while not jumping high enough, treat it as a collision: reset combo to x1, subtract 35 points without going below zero, and recycle that buoy ahead. The scoring should also increase continuously over time at roughly 10 points per second multiplied by the current combo. There are no separate lives or weapons; the goal is simply to survive, dodge buoys, build the combo, and chase a high score.

Add a fixed HUD over the canvas. At the top left, show a large rounded dark translucent pill with bold white text “WAVE RIDER.” At the top right, show another matching pill reading “Score 0 · Combo x1,” with the number and multiplier updating live. At the bottom center, show a rounded dark translucent instruction strip reading “A / D or ← / → to carve · Space to hop · drag on the water on mobile.” Use clean bold sans-serif type, subtle text shadow, translucent borders, and a polished glassy dark-blue UI treatment.

On initial load, display a centered dark translucent rounded dialog with the title “Wave Rider,” the message “Carve the wave, dodge the buoys, chase the high score.” and a gold rounded “Start surfing” button. Starting resets score, combo, speed, player position, and buoy positions, then hides the dialog. Preserve a responsive full-screen canvas and adapt the camera to portrait/mobile screens. Use a perspective camera around (0, 5.2, 9.5), with a moderate field of view around 52 degrees, and use fog to blend the ocean and distant island into the cyan horizon. The visual presentation should match a simple colorful arcade surfing game rather than a realistic simulation.
