Make your own game

Thorny Thicket was built by Oleg Sidorkin with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Thorny Thicket opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Rebuild a functional real-time 3D cinematic cutscene titled “Thorny Thicket,” presented as Episode 6 — “Papo and the Thorny Thicket.” This is a scripted, non-combat story sequence rather than a conventional game: use a Three.js-style renderer with a perspective camera, fog, shadows, color grading/tone mapping, animated placeholder characters, scripted camera shots, environment changes, and a subtitle card. Begin automatically on Scene 1 and play through nine timed scenes, each with its own camera blocking, actor poses, lighting, environment, and narration text. The overall emotional arc is isolation → pursuit → danger → companionship → reunion, with the theme that believing in yourself can help others believe in themselves.

Visual style: intentionally simple low-poly placeholder forms with cinematic staging, strong silhouettes, dark atmospheric lighting, and separated foreground/background layers. Build a large dark ground plane. Characters are assembled from capsule and sphere primitives: torsos, spherical heads, capsule arms and legs, with basic hierarchical joints so they can sit, stand, walk, lean, turn their heads, lift arms, crouch, and react to scratches. Loran is a warm tan human with darker brown limbs/accent pieces; Ailah is teal; Papo is a black-and-white panda with white body/head, black ears, black eye patches, and dark limbs; add three small colored cubs as a group at camp. Use soft shadows and an upright perspective camera.

Create two main environments. The camp edge is a broad dark earth-colored clearing containing a weak orange fire/ember and point-light fire glow, logs/bedroll-like capsule forms, a stump, scattered rocks, and a distant semicircle of roughly 42 simple trees made from brown trunks and dark green-black spherical crowns. The Thorny Thicket is a long narrow path extending deep into negative Z, with repeated twisted dark branch structures, side branches and torus-like branch arches, dense dark fog/haze planes, and many small glowing purple thorn points. Include a clearing at the far end with a horizontal log and rocks. The final scene returns to camp beneath a field of small pale stars. Shift atmosphere and exposure across night, dawn, thicket darkness, warmer reunion, and starry closing; fire intensity should flicker subtly while visible.

Implement these nine scenes with the stated approximate durations and narration, using smooth interpolation and multiple sub-shots per scene:
1. “Loran leaves,” 16 seconds, night camp. Loran starts seated apart, looking troubled, then stands, looks back once, walks away toward the trees and disappears. Ailah, Papo, and the cubs remain near bedrolls/fire. Subtitle: “Night. Loran sits apart from everyone else. He looks back once… then disappears into the trees alone.”
2. “Ailah wakes,” 12 seconds, dawn camp. Ailah wakes from a seated/sleeping pose at an empty bedroll, rises into alarm and looks around; Papo begins to wake while the camp remains visible. Subtitle: “Dawn. Ailah wakes to an empty bedroll. Panic spreads through the camp — and guilt hits her first.”
3. “Papo goes alone,” 14 seconds, brighter dawn camp. Ailah gestures anxiously as Papo silently gets up and walks away from camp toward the thicket. Animate Papo’s steady departure and Ailah’s concern. Subtitle: “They argue about what to do. Papo says nothing. He picks up his pack and walks toward the Thorny Thicket alone.”
4. “The Thorny Thicket,” 20 seconds, very dark purple-black foggy path. Follow Papo through the repeated branch arches from the thicket entrance deep toward the clearing. He walks continuously, with small lateral path motion and two visible reaction beats where thorns catch him: briefly lean, lift an arm, twist, and tint his body with a subtle reddish hurt effect, then continue. Subtitle: “Dense. Twisted. Hostile. The thorns catch Papo again and again — but he keeps going.”
5. “Papo finds Loran,” 10 seconds, dark thicket clearing. Reveal Loran sitting hunched and hurt near the clearing log. Papo approaches from a short distance and gradually sits beside him without lecturing. Subtitle: “In a small clearing, Loran is waiting in silence. Papo doesn’t lecture him. He just sits beside him.”
6. “The conversation,” 18 seconds, intimate two-shot in the same clearing. Both characters sit facing one another. Loran slowly opens up, raises his gaze, straightens slightly, and becomes less visibly hurt; Papo makes a small reassuring gesture and turns toward him. Subtitle: “Papo shares the truth quietly: being different is not the same as being less.”
7. “The way back,” 14 seconds, thicket path in reverse. Papo and Loran walk back together along three interpolated waypoints, maintaining a paired formation and hopeful forward motion. Use several wider and closer camera compositions along the path. Subtitle: “They walk back together. The path is the same — but it doesn’t feel the same anymore.”
8. “Ailah’s apology,” 14 seconds, dawn/warm camp. Stage Loran, Ailah, and Papo at camp with the cubs nearby. Ailah steps forward toward Loran, lowers/raises an arm in an apologetic gesture, and faces him directly; Loran listens and gradually relaxes, while Papo observes. Subtitle: “Ailah steps forward and apologizes to Loran directly — no excuses, no deflecting. Loran listens.”
9. “Closing moment,” 16 seconds, peaceful camp at night under stars and firelight. Papo sits in his usual quiet place. Loran begins apart, walks over, turns toward Papo, and sits beside him. Hold on the two companions in silence while Ailah and the cubs remain in the background. End the cutscene after the final hold. Subtitle: “That night, Papo sits in his usual quiet place. Loran chooses to sit beside him. No speech. Just company.”

Use authored cinematic camera paths with smoothstep/ease-in-out interpolation and multiple sub-shots rather than one static angle per scene. The camera should move from camp close/wide shots to tracking shots down the thicket, intimate clearing two-shots, paired return shots, and finally a pullback/upward closing view. Keep the horizon upright and use look-at targets. Environment visibility and mood should switch per scene: camp on scenes 1–3 and 8–9, thicket on scenes 4–7, stars only in scene 9; vary background color, fog density, hemisphere light intensity, exposure, and fire intensity to create night, dawn, danger, warmth, and peace.

HUD/UI: overlay a top bar with the left title “Episode 6 — Papo and the Thorny Thicket” and a right-side control hint: “Space: skip • R: replay • H: hide text • T: Theatre UI • Y: Theatre takeover • P: author pause • ←/→: scrub”. At the bottom center show a translucent black rounded subtitle panel with a small uppercase scene label (“SCENE 1” through “SCENE 9”) and the scene narration in large white text. H toggles this subtitle/HUD visibility. Space skips with a brief fade-to-black and lands on the end of Scene 9, then enables inspection. R resets and replays from Scene 1. After ending, enable mouse-drag orbit inspection with an upright orbit camera and a target around the characters. P pauses/unpauses authoring; while paused, Left/Right arrows scrub the current scene by 0.25 seconds (hold Shift for four times that amount), and mouse wheel also scrubs. Include an optional Theatre.js authoring integration if available: nine sheets named Scene_1 through Scene_9, each exposing Camera position/look-at/roll and Mood values for exposure, fog density, hemisphere intensity, and fire intensity; provide T to show/hide the Theatre UI and Y to toggle whether Theatre drives camera/mood instead of the scripted pass. Expose serializable game state for current time, HUD visibility, cutscene playing/ended status, scene index/time, camera position, character positions/visibility, and Theatre takeover/pause/UI state, with a setter that can restore those values.
