Shifting Bestiary was built by Leopold James Colson-Bennett with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.
Remix Shifting Bestiary opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.
Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.
Create a playable third-person 3D exploration encyclopedia game titled “Shifting Bestiary.” Set it in a magical wilderness called the Shifting Expanse. Use Three.js-style real-time 3D rendering with a perspective camera positioned above and behind the player, looking toward the player and following their movement. The world is a circular green terrain island about 64 units across, with dark twilight-blue fog and background. Add soft shadows, a warm directional sun, cool hemisphere lighting, and a gold circular observation boundary ring on the ground. Scatter visible fantasy landmarks around the terrain: trees, large crystals, and mushrooms. The player is a small stylized archivist represented by a blue capsule-like cloaked body, a brown satchel on one side, and a small glowing yellow cone/plume above their head. Start the player near the front/southern area of the map. Allow movement in four directions using WASD or the arrow keys; normalize diagonal movement, rotate the player to face the movement direction, and constrain them within approximately x/z = -24 to 24. On touch/mobile devices, show a translucent four-button D-pad with up/left/down/right arrows. Movement pauses while the encyclopedia panel is open. Place seven mythic specimens at distinct locations around the Expanse. The Bulette is a procedural low-poly armored landshark: brown flattened body, wedge snout, and dark shale-like dorsal fin. The Otyugh uses an animated cute demon-like 3D model. The Vrock uses an animated flying demon model. The Stirge uses an animated small flying Armabee-like creature model. The Glass Wyrm uses a dragon model. The Page-Mimic uses an open chest model. The Astral Mote is procedural: a glowing cyan faceted icosahedral core floating above the ground, surrounded by a thin luminous ring and a small cyan point light. Use fantasy creature/model assets where available, and make the creatures gently rotate; flying creatures bob visibly up and down while ground creatures hover/settle subtly. The central gameplay loop is safe observation, not combat. Each specimen has a home location and continuously shifts slightly around it. When the player comes within roughly 3.2 world units of a creature, immediately record/discover it, show a prominent toast notification such as “New entry recorded: Bulette — Landshark of the shale dunes,” and update the encyclopedia count. Do not add attacks, health, inventory, enemies, or combat. Give every creature a specific encyclopedia entry with these exact names, categories/titles, and lore: Bulette — “Landshark of the shale dunes,” biome “Burrowing predator,” lore “A plated tunneler that listens through its feet. It bursts up when careless steps cross thin soil.” Otyugh — “Refuse sage of the mire,” “Mire scavenger,” “A patient eater of rot and secrets. Its stink warns travelers long before its teeth do.” Vrock — “Carrion dancer of hot winds,” “Abyssal flyer,” “It wheels above battles and performs a rasping dance when fresh fear is near.” Stirge — “Lantern-blood needle,” “Swarm parasite,” “Small, quick, and drawn to warmth. A lone stirge is a warning; a cloud of them is weather.” Glass Wyrm — “Prismatic ridge guardian,” “Crystal drake,” “Its hide refracts moonlight into false silhouettes. Scholars mark safe paths by counting the reflections.” Page-Mimic — “Book that reads the reader,” “Archive ambusher,” “It disguises itself as a field guide, then snaps shut on anyone who skips the warning chapter.” Astral Mote — “Thinking star-spore,” “Wandering omen,” “Not hostile, not tame. It answers questions by drifting toward the least impossible direction.” Every 30 seconds, trigger a visible world shift. Reset a “Next shift” countdown to 30 seconds, alter the ground and fog/background color among several muted twilight palettes, rotate the scattered terrain props slightly, and rotate/adjust creature home alignments so lairs and landmarks slide into new arrangements. Show a toast saying “The Expanse shifts — landmarks and lairs slide into new alignments.” Continue exploration after each shift. Build a clear overlay HUD. In the upper left, show a dark translucent bordered title card with the large serif title “Shifting Bestiary” and subtitle “Explore the Expanse. Approach creatures to record them.” In the upper right, show a gold gradient button labeled “Bestiary” and a live discovery count initially “0/7.” Below the title, show a bordered dark timer panel reading “Next shift: 30s” with the number updating once per second. On desktop, show a bottom-left instruction panel: “WASD / Arrow keys move · E opens the bestiary · walk near a creature to identify it.” On mobile, replace this with the D-pad and a gold “Book” button. Center-bottom notifications should appear as dark translucent, gold-bordered toast messages. The Bestiary/Field Encyclopedia can be opened with E, the desktop Bestiary button, or the mobile Book button, and closed with an X button. Make it a right-side sliding panel covering the full height, with a warm parchment/gold paper appearance, dark brown text, serif heading “Field Encyclopedia,” and explanatory text “Entries appear as you safely observe each mythic specimen.” List all seven entries. Undiscovered entries should be visibly locked/grayed and show “Undocumented,” “Unknown Specimen,” “Find this creature in the Expanse,” and “Approach carefully to observe it and unlock the entry.” Discovered entries should show their biome, name, title, and lore. Keep the 3D scene visible behind the HUD and panel, with responsive desktop/mobile layout, touch-friendly controls, and readable typography.
