Make your own game

Moonshot Derby was built by hugohamer1 with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Moonshot Derby opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Moonshot Derby

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable 3D baseball home-run derby called “Moonshot Derby,” viewed from a tight over-the-shoulder batting camera behind and slightly to the side of a stylized right-handed batter at home plate. Use a Three.js-like real-time 3D presentation with a bright blue sky, atmospheric fog, strong sunlight and soft shadows. Build a large baseball stadium around the player: a striped green outfield, brown dirt infield and batter’s box, home plate and bases, distant outfield wall/fence with yellow foul poles, curved multilevel stands filled with colorful blocky seats and small crowd spheres, four tall light towers, and a distant city skyline. Put a large center-field jumbotron above the wall reading “MOONSHOT BOARD,” showing the player’s score, home runs, longest distance, pitch number and rank. Use simple low-poly/blocky baseball figures: the player wears a dark blue jersey with a gold chest stripe, white pants, blue helmet and holds a wooden bat; the pitcher wears red; three rival avatars stand in the field in red, blue and yellow uniforms.

The core loop is a 10-pitch derby round. Initially show a dark translucent centered overlay titled “Derby Night,” explaining that the ball comes down the visible lane, the player must beat three rivals and stack moonshots, and giving controls: desktop Arrow keys to aim and Space to swing; phone on-screen arrows and a large swing button. Include Start Derby, Play Again after the round, and a close-overlay X. Once started, send one pitch at a time from the pitcher toward home plate. The pitch is a visible white baseball traveling down a luminous blue lane directly in front of the batter, with a glowing rectangular strike-zone frame around the plate, a soft halo, and several fading trail spheres. Randomly label each pitch Heater, Riser, Inside heat, or Paint job. The ball starts roughly 26 world units away and travels toward the plate; if the player does not hit it before it crosses the plate, resolve a strike/miss.

Let the player choose one of exactly three horizontal aim choices—Pull, Center, or Oppo—using Left/Right arrows or A/D, or the two on-screen arrow buttons. Display the current choice as “Aim: Pull,” “Aim: Center,” or “Aim: Oppo.” Swing with Space or Enter on desktop or the large orange SWING button on mobile. A swing evaluates timing based on how close the ball is to the plate, plus contact height and horizontal alignment with the selected aim. Very early/late or poorly aligned swings produce no contact and a strike. A successful hit launches the ball upward and forward with side movement based on aim and contact quality; show a brief swing animation, a small contact particle burst, and update the pitch/contact meter. Excellent contact should be called “Perfect crack!” and weaker successful contact “Good contact — carry!”

Use realistic arcade-style flight: apply gravity to the batted ball, follow it with a slightly raised tracking camera, and compute distance in feet from its flight position. If the hit ball clears the outfield fence (past the deep z position, high enough, within the foul width), award a home run; display a celebratory golden particle burst and message such as “Home run! N ft moonshot.” Otherwise, when it lands, award a smaller deep-fly score and message such as “Deep fly ball — N ft.” Every pitch decrements Pitches Left. A home run gives a large bonus based on contact quality (base 120 plus up to 150 quality points); a field fly gives a smaller score based on quality; a miss gives no score. Track Home Runs, Longest distance in feet, Score, and Rank.

After every player pitch resolves, simulate one swing for each of three AI competitors so the standings move: Titan 99, Rocket 27, and Switch 44. Give them randomized home-run or deep-fly outcomes based on their different skill/power values, with home-run distance roughly 382–452 feet and corresponding score bonuses. Rank the four entries by score, breaking ties by home runs. The on-screen Derby Board should show rank, name, score and HR for YOU plus the three rivals, with YOU highlighted. Continue until all 10 pitches are used, then show a final overlay whose heading says either “You Win The Derby” or “[rival] Wins The Derby,” and a summary containing the player score, HR count, longest distance and finishing rank, plus a Play Again button.

Build a fixed responsive HUD over the 3D view. At the top center show the gold uppercase title “MOONSHOT DERBY,” subtitle “Beat the field in 10 swings,” current aim, and stat cards for Pitches Left, Home Runs, Longest, Score and Rank. Under them show a status message and a compact horizontal meter that fills according to the pitch’s progress before contact or contact quality after a hit, colored from green through yellow to red. Place the Derby Board at the upper right on desktop and make it responsive on smaller screens. At the bottom center show a Commentator Booth panel with changing play-by-play text for incoming pitches, misses, fly balls, home runs and rival shots. Include a Voice On/Voice Off toggle using browser speech synthesis, toggled by the voice button or keyboard M. Include Hide/Show controls for the leaderboard and commentary panels, plus a top HUD Hide Panels/Show Panels control; on small screens default the side panels hidden to keep the pitch lane visible. At the bottom corners show large dark rounded left/right aim buttons and a large rounded orange gradient SWING button. Use dark navy translucent glass panels with rounded corners, cyan glowing lane/strike-zone accents, gold/orange action highlights, white text and responsive phone-friendly sizing. Keep the game interactive, restartable, and strictly focused on the visible pitch, timing, contact quality, home-run distance, 10-pitch score chase and moving rival leaderboard.
