Make your own game

Midnight Mile was built by Scripted Fate with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Midnight Mile opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Midnight Mile

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Recreate a browser-based 3D atmospheric driving game titled “Midnight Mile.” Use a third-person chase camera behind a sedan on a dark, endless two-lane highway at night. The camera should sit high and slightly behind the car, looking forward down the road; smoothly follow the car’s horizontal movement while the road continuously scrolls toward the player to create the illusion of forward travel. The player controls the car laterally and its speed, but there is no traffic, combat, collision system, finish line, or explicit win condition: the experience is an endless psychological-horror night drive.

Scene and visual style: use a deep navy/black sky with a subtle star field, soft cloud bands, and a dusky purple-red glow near the horizon. Add exponential atmospheric fog that limits visibility and makes the headlights important. Build the highway from repeating road segments: a dark charcoal asphalt strip about 10 units wide, darker shoulders on both sides, and intermittent pale center dashes. Recycle segments behind the player so the road never ends. The road should very subtly shift laterally over distance rather than remain perfectly straight. Surround it with a dense line of irregular pine trees on both sides, placed well off the asphalt and recycled as they pass behind the camera. Include a few sparse roadside lamps far down the route, each a thin dark pole with a small warm orange glow that gently flickers. Light the scene with cool moon/sky illumination and strong cool-white sedan headlights projecting down the road.

Player and movement: load or create a simple low-poly sedan viewed from behind, centered initially in the lane, with headlights aimed ahead. The car can steer left and right within a bounded horizontal range of roughly -3.2 to +3.2 world units; visually tilt/roll slightly while steering. Accelerate forward with W or Up Arrow and brake/reduce speed with S or Down Arrow; A/D or Left/Right Arrow steer. Speed should smoothly accelerate/decelerate, clamp to a modest maximum, and contribute to the apparent scrolling speed. The road should still drift forward slowly even when the player is not accelerating. On mobile, provide three translucent circular touch controls at bottom-right: left arrow, large up/accelerate arrow, and right arrow, with pointer/touch press and release behavior.

Atmosphere and events: cycle between clear/clearing conditions, low fog, and rain on the windshield/air. During rain, show many fine blue-white falling streaks in front of the camera, animate them downward, and increase fog density; otherwise hide the rain. Update a top-right weather status between labels such as “RAIN ON GLASS,” “LOW FOG,” and “CLEARING.” Every roughly 18 seconds or more, occasionally trigger a brief centered narrative event message near the upper-middle of the screen. Possible implemented events are: a nearly black human-like capsule figure briefly appearing beyond the headlights near one side of the road/tree line with the message “something stands beyond the headlights”; the radio slipping into static with “the radio slips into static” and temporary text like “— — — ... are you still driving?”; a very brief exposure/brightness flash with “lightning somewhere beyond the tree line”; or “the road looks familiar.” Make these events rare and temporary, fade their text out, and remove the distant figure after a short time. Do not add enemies, attacks, jumps, collectibles, signals, or objectives that are not part of this driving game.

HUD: overlay a minimalist fixed interface without blocking the 3D view. At the top-left show a dark translucent rounded pill with pale blue text like “MILE 000 · 03:00 AM,” incrementing the mile based on distance and showing elapsed seconds as the seconds portion. At the top-right show a matching pill for the current weather. At bottom-left show a radio readout with the gold label “FM 88.3 · NIGHT DRIVE” and subdued changing copy: initially “soft country, low volume,” then the normal driving line “a soft country song, somewhere between stations,” or temporary static during the radio event. Show event messages centered around 18% from the top in cool pale text with a soft shadow. Use subtle translucent dark panels, thin blue-gray borders, cool blue typography, and restrained warm gold accents.

Opening screen: before gameplay, cover the screen with a dark radial-vignette overlay and a centered rounded rectangular panel. The panel should say in small gold uppercase lettering “AN ENDLESS PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR DRIVE,” display the large spaced uppercase title “MIDNIGHT MILE,” and explain: “Keep the headlights on. Follow the road. If something appears beyond the trees, don’t assume it was there a second ago.” Include a gold button labeled “START THE DRIVE.” Beneath it show compact controls text: “A / D or ← / → steer · W / ↑ accelerate · S / ↓ brake.” Starting the drive hides this panel, begins movement and ambient engine/radio audio, and reveals the HUD. Use responsive sizing for desktop and mobile, dark navy-black backgrounds, rounded controls, soft shadows, and an understated cinematic horror aesthetic.
