Make your own game

La La Land was built by Chayton Rayburn-Worden with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix La La Land opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for La La Land

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a spooky third-person 3D survival collectathon called "La La Land" using a dark haunted circus tent as the entire play area. Use a Three.js-like real-time 3D presentation with a perspective camera following behind and above the player, looking toward the player’s forward direction. The scene should be nearly black with deep burgundy, purple, red, cream, gold, cyan, and magenta lighting, exponential fog, soft shadows, and a strong ominous vignette/darkening effect that increases as fear rises.

World and environment: Build a circular circus tent arena roughly 19 units in radius. The ground is a dark reddish-brown circular floor with a thin gold ring around its edge. Surround it with alternating dark red and pale cream triangular tent canopy panels rising to a central gold pole. At the front entrance, make a wide black opening with two angled red flap panels. Around the tent perimeter, place four black creepy doors with gold glowing frames, knobs, point lights, and floating labels alternating between "DOOR" and "KEEP OUT". Add fourteen small dark wooden crates around the outer ring and ten wooden bench seats farther inward as collision obstacles. Inside the tent is one spooky dirt hill, centered around the left side of the arena, modeled as a low rounded mound with a short path and a wooden sign reading "DOODLES HILL".

Player: Represent the player as a small stylized character with a blue capsule-like body, peach spherical head, and black cone hat. Start at the front/interior of the tent around coordinates (0, 0.65, 8). The player moves on the ground plane and follows the hill’s raised surface height. Use WASD or arrow keys to move, Shift to sprint, and prevent the player from leaving the tent or passing through crates and benches. On touch devices provide a translucent circular virtual joystick at bottom left and a round red/orange "FLASH" button at bottom right. Keep the camera over-the-shoulder/behind the player, elevated around 6–7 units, and subtly move it closer/lower as fear increases.

Objective and collectibles: Place exactly seven floating ghost balloons at these arena positions: approximately (-10,-7), (8,-9), (12,3), (-12,5), (4,11), (-5,9), and (0,-14). Each balloon should be a small glowing sphere with a thin string, alternating cyan and purple, bobbing gently and rotating. When the player comes within about 1.25 units, hide the balloon, increase the count, and reduce fear. The goal is to collect all 7; then end the game with the centered message "You Escaped" and explanatory text that Doodles beeps happily as the balloons split the tent open. Display the HUD counter as "Balloons: 0 / 7" through "Balloons: 7 / 7".

Enemy and companion: Add a creepy clown enemy named Funny starting near the back of the tent at approximately (0, -10). Model Funny with a pale capsule-like suit, red ruffle, pale round head, bright red nose, orange side hair, dark smiling mouth, a red point light, and a floating "Funny" name label. Once the game starts, Funny continuously chases the player across the arena. Its base speed is about 2.2 and increases with fear; it stops temporarily when stunned. If Funny touches the player (within about 1.05 units), or fear reaches full, the player loses. Show the centered loss message "Funny Found You" with a retry button and instructions to use the lantern flash when Funny gets close.

Companion: Place a friendly small wheeled robot named Doodles on top of the hill at the beginning. Construct it from pale metallic box body and head parts, dark arms and wheels, cyan glowing chest and eyes, a thin antenna with a yellow bulb, a cyan point light, and a floating "Doodles" label. Doodles bobs gently on the hill while idle. After the game starts, have it follow behind and to the side of the player at a modest speed, continuing to conform to the hill’s ground height.

Fear and lantern flash: Put a top-right translucent dark HUD panel labeled "FEAR" with a horizontal bar that fills from dark purple toward hot pink/red. Fear rises while Funny is within 8 units, rises further during jump scares, and slowly decays when Funny is farther away. As fear increases, make the tent darker, increase fog density, reduce the lantern brightness, and make the camera closer/lower. The player can press Space or the mobile FLASH button to fire a brief bright lantern burst. Give it a 2.8-second cooldown shown in the balloon HUD as " • Flash cooling". If Funny is within about 7.5 units, the burst stuns him for about 1.35 seconds. The normal lantern is a warm spotlight aimed forward from the player; during a flash it becomes much brighter and reaches farther.

Jump scares: When Funny gets very close (under about 5.2 units, subject to a cooldown), briefly overlay a full-screen red/black radial flash with a large stylized glowing clown face, dark eyes and mouth, shaking/zooming animation, and large text such as "RUN!". Also trigger forced scares on collecting balloon 2 with text "LOOK!" and balloon 5 with text "BEHIND YOU!". Each scare briefly shakes the camera, increases fear, and plays a harsh scare sound if audio is available.

Game flow and interface: On the initial screen show the title "La La Land" in a large cream spooky display font at top left, a top-right FEAR meter and balloon counter, and a centered heading "Enter the Tent" with the instruction: "Collect 7 ghost balloons before Funny the clown catches you. Find the one spooky hill — Doodles the robot is waiting on top." Include a red gradient START button. After loss or victory, stop gameplay and show a centered result with a red retry/"TRY AGAIN" button. For desktop show a bottom hint: "WASD / Arrow keys to move • Shift to sprint • Space to flash the lantern". Start eerie procedural audio after the first interaction: low sustained drones, intermittent metallic bell/metal hits, and a harsh noise sound for scares. Keep the overall art style stylized, low-poly, theatrical, neon-lit horror with readable floating labels and a responsive layout for desktop and mobile.
