Arcade › Half Court Duel
Play a quick one-on-one on a marked half court, crossing up the AI and timing your shot meter for clean releases. Drive into the painted key, pull up from three, or finish at the rim.

Half Court Duel was built by Sidak Singh with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.
Remix Half Court Duel opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.
Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.
Create a 3D one-on-one basketball game set on a half-court viewed from an elevated third-person perspective. The camera is positioned high and behind the player (at approximately 0, 11.7, 15.4) looking down at the court with a smooth follow that keeps the player visible in the lower-middle portion of the screen while keeping the hoop, ball, and AI opponent in view.
**Court & Environment:**
- Wooden half-court made from asset-pack floor tiles arranged in a grid
- Realistic basketball court markings rendered as thick mesh strips (not thin lines): white boundary lines along left/right sidelines and baseline, gold half-court check line at the far end
- Blue painted key/paint area with fill decal, white free-throw lane lines and free-throw circle
- Three-point line comprised of white corner lines leading to a continuous arc (radius 5.6 units) centered on the hoop
- Additional details: restricted area arc near hoop, hash marks on key, gold center circle with tint, blue marker line on floor beneath hoop
- Backboard is a transparent glass rectangle, orange metal rim (torus shape) at position (0, 2.8, -6.25), white net mesh beneath rim
- Dark gray/blue arena ground surrounding the court, light blue sky background with fog
- Directional sunlight casting soft shadows
**Player & AI Characters:**
- Player character: blocky/low-poly humanoid with green control ring on ground beneath them (torus shape at foot level)
- AI opponent: similar blocky character with red control ring beneath them
- Both characters have animated states: idle, walk, sprint, holding-both (dribbling pose), holding-both-shoot (shooting pose)
- Basketball is an orange sphere scaled from a small ball model, bounces at player/AI side when dribbling with visible rotation/spin
**Core Mechanics:**
- WASD or Arrow keys to move, Shift to sprint (faster movement)
- Possession alternates between player, AI, loose ball, and shot states
- Player starts with ball at back of court; possession switches after made baskets or steals
- Hold and release Space (or click/touch) to shoot: a timing meter appears at bottom center
- The timing meter is a horizontal bar that fills with a gradient (blue to yellow to pink) with a green "sweet spot" zone at 68-78%
- White needle indicator shows current charge position; power charges forward then backward repeatedly
- Release in the green sweet spot for "Perfect release" or near it for "Good release"; affects shot accuracy
- E key (or STEAL button on mobile) attempts steal when near AI with ball, or block when AI shoots
- Jump animations trigger on shots and rebounds
**Shooting System:**
- Shot trajectory calculated using physics (parabolic arc toward hoop)
- Accuracy influenced by: timing quality (perfect/good/bad), distance from hoop, defender proximity
- Shots inside the three-point arc = 1 point, outside = 2 points
- Ball follows ballistic path, can bounce on court with realistic physics
- Made baskets detected when ball passes through hoop height with downward velocity
- Ball can go out of bounds (off sides or past baseline), causing possession change
**AI Behavior:**
- When player has ball: AI moves between player and hoop to defend, occasionally attempts steals
- When AI has ball: moves toward strategic shooting positions, shoots when open or close to rim
- When loose ball: both player and AI chase the ball
- AI shoots with randomized timing, slightly lower accuracy than perfect player timing
- AI uses sprint speed when moving with purpose
**HUD Display (fixed overlay, non-interactive except buttons):**
- Top right: Score display showing "YOU" score and "AI" score with "FIRST TO 11 / WIN BY 2" in center (gold text)
- Scoreboard has dark translucent rounded background with subtle backdrop blur
- Top left: Info panel showing current possession ("Possession: You/AI/Shot/Loose ball") and controls hint
- Bottom center: Timing meter bar (only visible when charging shot) with power fill, green sweet spot zone, and white needle
- Top-center area: Message popup for game events ("Check ball!", "You stole it!", "Bucket! +2", "Perfect release", etc.) that fades in/out
- Mobile controls (touch devices): virtual joystick bottom-left (circular zone with knob), aim zone bottom-right (dashed circle), SHOOT button (orange, bottom-right), STEAL button (blue, to the left of shoot)
- "Run it back" restart button appears at top-center when game ends
**Winning Condition:**
- First to 11 points, must win by 2
- Game over message shows winner ("You win the duel!" or "AI wins — run it back")
**Visual Style:**
- Clean arcade basketball aesthetic using blocky low-poly character models
- Bright, readable court markings with proper basketball regulation layout
- Soft lighting with hemisphere light and directional sun creating depth
- Smooth character animations blending between states
- Professional sports game presentation with polished UI
**Audio:**
- Sound effect plays on shot attempts and made baskets (digital/synth swish sound)
The game plays as a complete one-on-one basketball simulation with realistic court dimensions, proper three-point scoring, shot timing mechanics, AI opponent, and win-by-2 tournament rules.
