Make your own game

Dreaming In Damsel was built by Chase Runingham with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Dreaming In Damsel opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable third-person 3D adventure-comedy called “Dreaming In Damsel.” The player controls Riley, a college senior who loves old black-and-white cliffhanger serials and has wished for a more dramatic life. Keep the tone PG, pulpy, warm, and knowingly melodramatic rather than scary or sexualized.

Opening flow: show a dark navy translucent title card over the campus scene with the title “Dreaming In Damsel,” subtitle “DID — a pulpy campus adventure,” story text, and large buttons “Start Riley’s Day” and “Restart.” Include desktop instructions (WASD/arrows, mouse to look, E to enter a scene, Space to break free) and mobile instructions (left joystick, drag to look, SCENE and BREAK FREE buttons). When Start is pressed, show a skippable four-beat illustrated dorm cutscene before gameplay. The cutscene should be a stylized 2D/CSS-like composition: Riley lounging on a pink sofa in a dorm room, watching a chunky old TV showing a monochrome serial heroine and villain on a stormy rooftop, with curtains and a window behind her. The beats are: “Late-night binge” (Riley watches a black-and-white cliffhanger), “On the screen” (the heroine is trapped on a stormy rooftop), “The wish” (Riley wishes life came with one wildly cinematic adventure), and “Answering star” (a shooting star passes the window and grants the wish). Display the captions from those beats, a Next button, and a Skip button; Space/Enter advances and Escape skips.

Gameplay is a stylized low-poly campus hub viewed from an over-the-shoulder/third-person camera following Riley. Use a warm campus palette: blue sky with blue fog, green circular lawn, cream rectangular quad and walkways, soft shadows, simple suburban academic buildings, large trees, benches, old-fashioned lamps, and floating sparkles. Use a recognizable animated casual female college-student model for Riley, with idle, walk, run, and interact animations. Riley starts near the center fountain. The fountain is a broad pale-blue stone circular base with blue water, and it is the final return point. Place three named buildings around the hub with unobtrusive floating name labels: Hart Hall at the back-left, Oak Library at the back-right, and Stage Center at the far back. Use a third-person runtime controller with WASD/arrow movement, mouse drag camera look, walking/running, and mobile joystick plus drag look. Keep Riley grounded on the campus and make buildings/benches/environment solid enough to act as obstacles.

At three campus destinations, place bright glowing story markers: a rotating colored ground ring, a bobbing pale orb, and a matching point-light glow. The markers are approximately: Film Lab near Hart Hall at the left rear, Library Steps near Oak Library at the right rear, and Stage Walk in front of Stage Center at the far rear. Give them these exact labels and colors: “Film Lab Cliffhanger” in pink, “Library Step Spiral” in light blue, and “Stage Walk Snag” in golden yellow. Add simple narrative scene descriptions: Film Lab is a prop-room door slamming shut and Riley must shoulder it open before the lights go out; Library Steps is a slipping tower of books with a tangled strap and Riley must wriggle loose before the stack topples; Stage Walk has stage curtains snapping around Riley and she must break free before rehearsal starts.

Core loop: the HUD at top-left shows “Riley • Scenes cleared: 0/3 • Charm: 3,” an objective line, and temporary status messages. Explore the quad and walk within roughly 2.5 world units of an uncleared marker. Show a bottom prompt such as “Press E or tap SCENE — Film Lab Cliffhanger,” with a SCENE button on mobile. Press E, Enter, or SCENE to trigger the scene. Freeze Riley in place and display a centered translucent “TROUBLE!” panel containing the scene title in uppercase, its description, and a horizontal escape meter. The objective changes to “Mash Space or tap BREAK FREE before the scene wins.” During trouble, repeatedly pressing Space, Enter/interact, or the BREAK FREE button raises the escape progress. Require 24 total mash points to escape, with keyboard presses contributing about 1.3 points and mobile button presses about 1.5 points. Give each scene a 6.2-second countdown, even if the countdown is represented primarily through urgency and the meter. Play a light interface sound when scenes trigger and when they are cleared.

On success, hide that marker, increment Scenes cleared, and show a status such as “[scene name] cleared — Riley slips out in one piece.” Riley remains in the campus hub and can visit the next marker. On timeout, remove one Charm, play a failure sound, respawn Riley at the fountain/start point, and show “That scene got the better of Riley. Charm down to 2” (with the current value). Start with 3 Charm. If Charm reaches 0, end the day: show the intro/end overlay again with a failure message and allow Restart or R to reset. Do not make the player fight enemies or use weapons; the conflict is purely comic escape mashing.

After all three markers are cleared, update the objective to “All three scenes cleared — head back to the fountain,” reveal a glowing rotating gold ring and soft glow at the fountain finish point, and allow interaction when Riley returns near it. Press E/Enter or SCENE there to win. Show the success overlay/status: “Riley makes it home with a grin — exactly the sort of day she secretly wanted,” and objective text “Riley made it through the day — cliffhangers and all.” Allow R or Restart to replay.

Visual polish: use soft directional sunlight and hemisphere fill light, PCF soft shadows, subtle fog, emissive marker colors, animated marker bobbing/rotation, shimmering fountain water, floating gold-white sparkles, and a brief glowing shooting star crossing the sky after gameplay begins. Use dark navy glassmorphism panels with rounded corners, white text, pink accent text, gold/yellow action buttons, a pink BREAK FREE button, and a pale blue/pink/gold progress bar. Keep HUD buttons touch-friendly and responsive on small screens. The final game should feel like a lighthearted cinematic campus exploration game where ordinary locations turn into ridiculous serial-adventure trouble, with exactly three escape scenes and a fountain return goal.
