Make your own game

Blue Steel was built by Lamar Porter with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Blue Steel opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Rebuild a playable browser-based third-person 3D neighborhood exploration game titled “Blue Steel,” set in the fictional South Haven neighborhood with a grounded late-afternoon urban street-drama mood. Use an over-the-shoulder camera that smoothly follows a young male player avatar from behind, looking slightly downward at him and the street. The avatar is Savieo, a 16-year-old boy represented with simple low-poly geometry: blue jacket/top with a darker blue hem and blue bandana, dark pants, brown skin, dark hair, blocky arms and legs, and a soft circular ground shadow. The player starts near a school at the southwest edge of the map and enters Blue Steel territory. Do not use copyrighted franchise names, characters, logos, or copied assets.

Core gameplay: after an introductory story card, let the player freely explore a large bounded neighborhood using WASD or arrow keys; hold Shift to sprint. On mobile, show a virtual left joystick, a circular RUN button, and an ACT interaction button. Movement should be smooth with acceleration/deceleration, avatar facing the travel direction, simple swinging arm/leg walk animation, collision against building footprints, and world bounds. Press E, or tap ACT, near glowing mission hotspots to activate them. Hotspots are flat, rotating, emissive blue rings on the ground. Activating them hides that ring, updates the mission text, and awards respect. Place a School Exit hotspot near the school that awards 5 respect, a Blue Steel Corner hotspot near the central crew gathering that awards 25 respect, and three named neighborhood hotspots—Rose Park Court, Juniper Courts, and Harbor Steps—that each award 20 respect and advance territory progress. The HUD should track respect and territory secured out of 4, while preserving the game’s story progression messages: first encourage the player to meet the crew, then secure the remaining marked hoods, and eventually state that all four Blue Steel blocks are under watch. The player can also enter blocks and the district label should change based on location.

Build the South Haven map as a cross-shaped road layout with broad dark asphalt roads and pale curbs, sidewalks, grassy lots, and a surrounding green/dirt ground plane. Create four Blue Steel-controlled neighborhood blocks arranged in a 2x2 pattern around the central roads, named West 58th (northwest/west side), Rose Park (northeast), Juniper Courts (southwest), and Harbor Steps (southeast), with a “School Edge” district at the southwest outer edge and “South Haven” around the central roadway. Each neighborhood block should have a broad sidewalk zone, patches of grass, a fenced orange basketball court with white center/circle markings, two hoops/backboards, benches, and a nearby playground with a blue slide structure and gray swing frame. Populate every block with a mix of low-poly detached stucco houses and larger apartment fronts: warm beige/gray walls, dark roofs, doors, framed dark blue windows, porches, steps, fenced yards, shrubs, driveways, and parked low-poly cars. Add trees including palms, shrubs, street lamps with warm point-light glows, utility poles with crossarms and sagging dark power lines, street furniture, and visible named-street/block sign styling in Blue Steel blue.

Populate the world with a large Blue Steel presence of roughly 50 simple low-poly crew members distributed across the central corner, sidewalks, courts, playgrounds, and blocks. Crew members should wear varied blue/dark-blue clothing, stand in clusters, idle or subtly sway, look toward the player when nearby, and include some guards who make small scanning movements. Add multiple brown low-poly dogs roaming in the central turf/yard area with simple body, head, tail, and four legs; have them move in small looping paths. Also add rival crew members in small red/dark-red groups initially positioned outside or at the edges of the four zones. Rival groups should periodically push toward one active block in a repeating wave: the currently active rival zone changes about every 16 seconds, rivals move toward that zone while inactive groups retreat toward their spawn points, and they use simple walking/arm animations. There is no combat, weapons, driving, inventory, health, or shooting system: rival presence is conveyed through movement, proximity, and pressure only.

Create a live dark translucent blue HUD over the 3D view with thin pale-blue borders and a cinematic glass-panel look. Top-left: “BLUE STEEL” and “SOUTH HAVEN • FOUR BLOCKS UNDER WATCH.” Top-right: rows for Respect, Territory Secured (0 / 4 initially), Crew Nearby, Rivals Nearby, Pressure, and District. Bottom-left: a Mission panel with changing objective/story text. Bottom-right: a Controls panel stating WASD/arrow keys to move, Shift to sprint, E near a hotspot to progress, and mobile stick/buttons. On desktop show keyboard controls; on mobile show the touch controls and reposition the status panel as needed.

Before starting, show a centered dark cinematic intro modal titled “BLUE STEEL,” with the story that Savieo is 16, is tired of being pressed at school, wants belonging, and is stepping into South Haven blocks controlled by Blue Steel; explain that the neighborhood has four corners, crews on sidewalks, dogs in yards, courts and playgrounds. Include a short note that the neighborhood is denser with buildings, trees, named streets, and crews, then show “Tap or click start. Then reach the glowing hotspots to advance the story.” and a blue pill-shaped “Start Night One” button. Clicking/tapping it hides the modal, changes the phase from intro to roaming, activates gameplay, and displays the touch UI on mobile. Use a cinematic low-poly visual style with cool blue HUD/UI accents contrasted against warm peach late-afternoon sky, soft fog, long shadows, warm streetlamp glows, muted asphalt, stucco, grass, and concrete materials. Use ambient hemisphere light, warm directional sunlight, blue fill light, shadows, and a broad gradient sky. Keep the experience exploratory and atmospheric, with story advancement and territory/respect HUD feedback as the main goal.
