Make your own game

Blocktown Playground was built by John Morrison with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Blocktown Playground opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Blocktown Playground

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a browser-based 3D third-person exploration game titled “Blocktown Playground.” Use Three.js with a bright low-poly/blocky visual style, soft shadows, a sky-blue background with light atmospheric fog, and a sunny outdoor mini-city plaza.

World and camera: Build a square grassy town area roughly 52 by 52 units, with a light gray central rectangular plaza about 17 units wide and 24 units deep. Surround it with dark charcoal roads: horizontal roads near the north and south edges and vertical roads on the west and east edges. Place simple low-poly trees around the plaza and outer corners; each tree has a short brown tapered/cylindrical trunk and a faceted green foliage crown. Add four large blocky commercial-style buildings around the plaza, two toward the back/left and back/right and two farther toward the front/left and front/right, using simple white/gray building forms with dark horizontal bands, dark windows, and chunky proportions. The screenshot shows the player facing into the plaza between the two nearer tall buildings. Use bright daylight, a pale blue sky, directional sunlight from above, ambient hemisphere lighting, visible soft cast shadows, and fog fading the distant town.

Player: Place a blocky humanoid avatar at approximately the front/center of the plaza, initially around the south side (world position near x=0, z=9). Use a Kenney-style block character model with an orange/brown torso and blocky limbs, viewed from behind in a third-person camera. The avatar should be able to walk/run around the environment, jump, and collide with the ground, plaza, and streamed building props. Keep the player grounded when standing. Use a third-person perspective camera with approximately 58-degree perspective field of view, following the avatar from about 7.5 units away; allow the player to drag to look around. Support keyboard movement with WASD and arrow keys, Space to jump, and a mobile virtual joystick/touch control. Movement speed is about 5.5 and jump speed about 8.5 with downward gravity around -22. Play idle animation while stationary and walk/run animation while moving if the avatar asset provides those clips.

Collectibles and goal: Place exactly eight glowing golden-yellow floating star collectibles around the town/plaza at these approximate locations: (-5, 1.4, 3), (5, 1.4, 3), (-5, 1.4, 8), (5, 1.4, 8), (0, 1.6, -5), (-12, 1.5, 0), (12, 1.5, 0), and (0, 1.5, 14). Represent each as a small faceted octahedron/diamond-like star shape with yellow material, orange emissive glow, slight metallic appearance, and a visible soft shadow. Make them continuously rotate and bob vertically with a gentle sine-wave motion. When the avatar comes within about 1.45 units of a collectible, hide it and increment the score. There are no enemies, weapons, timers, lives, or combat; the objective is simply to explore and collect all eight stars.

HUD/UI: Overlay a fixed dark translucent rounded panel in the upper-left with a subtle border/shadow. It must show the cyan all-caps brand “BLOCKTOWN,” the title “Playground,” the subtitle “Explore the mini city, jump around, and collect the floating stars.”, and a yellow counter initially reading “Stars: 0 / 8,” updating as stars are collected. Put a yellow rounded “Reset stars” button in the upper-right. Clicking/tapping it must reset the score to zero, make all eight stars visible again, and return the avatar to its initial position. At the bottom center, show a dark pill-shaped instruction label reading “WASD / arrows to move · Space to jump · drag to look · mobile joystick supported.” The UI should remain readable over the 3D scene, adapt its margins and title size on narrow/mobile screens, and the gameplay canvas should fill the viewport with no page scrolling.
