Make your own game

Blockball Arena was built by Helly Posk with the Cinevva game creator: describe the game you want in chat, watch it get built, and play it in your browser minutes later.

Remix Blockball Arena opens the real game in the creator and forks its actual files, chat and design doc, so you start from the code rather than from a description.

Read the build brief for Blockball Arena

Cinevva's analyzer read this game's design doc and its source, then wrote the brief below. "Make your own" hands it to the game creator as your opening message, so you start from a real spec rather than a one-line idea.

Create a playable 3D arcade sports game titled “Blockball Arena,” shown from a fixed side-on orthographic camera. The arena is a long, narrow indoor handball/soccer-like court extending horizontally, with the floor spanning roughly x=-15 to +15 and a shallow depth. Use a dark navy background with subtle fog, a teal-blue rectangular floor, a thin bright cyan center line and a cyan center marking, dark blue side walls, and glowing cyan stadium-light dots in the background. At the far left and far right ends, build simple rectangular goals with tall blue/red posts and crossbars: the left goal is blue and the right goal is red. Use soft shadows and cool blue lighting, with a clean low-poly/blocky 3D aesthetic.

Place two blocky humanoid characters on the court: the user-controlled player begins on the left side around x=-8 and the opposing character begins on the right around x=8. Load or create simple Kenney-style blocky character models, with idle and walk animations if available. The player can move only horizontally along the court, facing the direction of travel, and can jump. Keep the player within approximately the goal boundaries (x=-13.2 to +13.2). The opponent automatically tracks the ball or player, moves horizontally at a slower speed, and also stays within the court; when it possesses the ball it runs toward the left and kicks it toward the blue side.

The core mechanic is to collect and throw a yellow glowing ball. Start the ball at the center of the arena, slightly above the floor. Apply gravity and horizontal movement with friction when the ball is free; let it bounce when it reaches the floor. When the player is close enough to the ball and is not too high in the air, attach the ball in front of the player. While holding it, pressing E launches a powerful shot to the right with strong horizontal velocity and a small upward arc, then starts a short ability cooldown. The opponent can similarly take possession when close, carry the ball in front of itself, and automatically shoot it left once it reaches its attacking side. If the free ball crosses the left or right end of the court, award a goal, increment the appropriate score, flash the background briefly, reset the ball to center, and reset players to their starting sides. The right/red goal crossing should score for blue, and the left/blue goal crossing should score for red. Show contextual status messages such as “Pegue a bola e ataque!”, “Bola no centro — ataque!”, “Bola com você — use E para chutar forte!”, “Arremesso poderoso!”, “Defesa vermelha chutou!”, “PONTO AZUL!” and “PONTO VERMELHO!”. There is no need for a win screen or match timer; scores simply accumulate.

Use an orthographic camera positioned in front and above the court, looking toward the center so the scene reads as a flat side-view while retaining visible 3D depth and shadows. Frame the entire horizontal arena and goals, with the floor in the lower portion and lots of dark navy space above it. Make the yellow ball, cyan field markings, and goal colors visibly emissive/glowing against the dark environment.

Add a fixed HUD over the canvas in Portuguese. At the top center, show a translucent dark rounded scoreboard panel with the yellow BLOCKBALL title, a blue score number on the left, a white dash separator, and a red score number on the right, both starting at 0. At the upper left, show a translucent panel reading “BLOCKBALL ARENA” and the controls: “WASD / setas: mover e saltar”, “Shift: dash E: arremesso forte”, and “Marque na baliza adversária!”. Under the scoreboard, show a centered translucent status pill. At the bottom, provide mobile/touch controls: translucent rounded buttons for left, right, and jump on the lower left; a red “DASH” button and a large blue circular lightning/⚡ button on the lower right. Map these to ArrowLeft, ArrowRight, Space, Shift, and E respectively. Also support keyboard controls: A/D or left/right arrows for horizontal movement, Space or Up for a single jump, Shift for a horizontal dash, and E for the powerful throw. Use a dark navy, cyan, blue, red, white, and yellow visual palette, rounded glass-like HUD panels, bold sans-serif typography, and responsive sizing for portrait mobile screens and desktop windows.
