My voxels are all black with no shading. How do I fix it?

I generated a voxel scene but the blocks render completely black with no shading or color showing. What's usually causing this and how do I get the colors to show?

This is almost always a lighting problem, not a color problem. The voxels have their colors, but with no light in the scene every face renders near-black. Ask the assistant to add a directional light and some ambient light, something like "add a directional light from above and soft ambient light so the colors show." If the faces still look flat, ask it to enable per-face shading or normals on the voxel mesh. If colors are still missing after lighting, check that a material or vertex colors were actually assigned, and ask it to apply the palette to the voxel material.
